-The 30 second skip forward doesn’t work in portrait playback. It does work in landscape.
-PIP is finally back for regular video (THANK YOU) but completely fails with liveTV. I also don’t like that you have to make the video full screen and then activate PIP. The button should be present in the small window.
-the guide is still extremely sluggish and favorites does not work at all. If I remove a favorite with the new app and add it back then the favorite won’t show up on the web or tvOS.
Will we be able to reorder the libraries hub on the home screen on a future release?
Hello everyone. Happy to see we’re all still loving the new update. I’m here to beg the Plex employees to please add Every Single button back to the casting playback screen.
I want to be able to change audio streams, subtitle source and video quality DURING playback.
I also want to be able to add people to my libraries without having to be on a desktop.
Latest version 2025.14.0 seems to have issue playing back dovi file. It starts fine and then 2-5 minutes later, this error pops up.
“Error occurred
Cannot complete action”
I’m able to resume playback fine but then it stops with that error again.

Tested leaving file open for buffer to build more and did not run into the error. So there seems to be a problem with the file remaining open while it buffers.
Why are my playlists split out between the various libraries? And why can’t I pin a unified list of playlists to the home screen? This was an incredibly useful feature in the previous version, particularly for my disabled stepson who really isn’t in a position to click through three screens to get to what he wants every time.

I have an issue loading TV Shows and movies library on every iOS device that I own since updating the app. The progress wheel keeps spinning and nothing happens.

New update broke casting to chrome, video’s just won’t play anymore. It horrible just revert back to the old app
Other download feature missing is download playlist and it would be nice if it could include a feature that used to be on sync but never made it to downloads which is to also have “download x unwatched” type options on playlist download.
I’ve been using the new experience for a couple of weeks now and here are a few basic things that I’ve experienced:
4 for seasons is in the new version which is currently rolling out. 2025.14. BUT it doesn’t have the old “download x unwatched”. Is simply download whole season.
While I like the look and feel of the new app, I don’t think it was ready for release. There are too many issues, especially with playback.
Auto sign-in does not work. I still have to sign into my user. (And yes, I made sure it was turn on under the admin account).
It does not switch between WiFi and Cellular that well, to the point hay I have to close out of the show I was watching and resume it.
Randomly, despite having enough buffered, the loading circle will just be there and spin the entire time I am watching.
Worst of all, and for some unknown reason, I will be in the middle of a show and it will literally restart from where ever I last resumed it from or the beginning. And it will constantly do this.
The app needs further polish. Please bring back the old Plex until some of these issues are ironed out.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to schedule DVR recording in the new iOS app. Is this feature no longer available? I can get to it on the web interface, but there is no “Browse” option on the new app. When I go to the What’s on Later section I can pull up the detail of the show or movie, but there is no option to record (and yes I selected my server instead of the plex channels, and my tuner is connected)
Absolute garbage on iPad, app is not usable. Opening the app takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 4 minutes and 19 seconds is the record so far. But it gets better, click an item and it seems fine and loads right away, but dare you go back, as it will take that same amount of time to go back to home…..then make you wait longer…and then finally you can interact w the app again. The app on iPad is dead and has no use, one can use the browser app and get better performance.
So beyond the extremely bug filled lack of performance…the UI…..ohhh the UI….
There is a reason why applications are developed specific to different devices, your devs and UI/UX designers knew this, just as everyone else in the industry does. Whoever got hired in management and said to just make ‘em all the same needs to be promoted to customer (fired).
This new look is bad to say the best thing I can, the posters sit odd, there is so much wasted screen real estate it’s incredible while also feeling cramped. The media pages feel lifeless with a floating button over a background.
The player is horrible with its tiny buttons that are clearly just another side effect of the stupid idea to make every app the same as I’m sure this would look better on a TV.
The menu seems childish and lacking in so many ways.
The list goes on, it’s bad, just bad, push the real native iOS app back onto the App Store so iPad users don’t have to deal with this atrocity that is not usable in any way.
The iPad app was the absolute best app y’all had, if you wanted to make ‘em all the same that right there was your base starting point, make ‘em all match that, the best experience you had to offer. At this point I might as well watch movies using VLC.
I agree with @D3Media that the media player buttons are way too small.
That, in combination with the loss of being able to use a physical keyboard to pause (space bar) or to stop playback (escape) makes the new app a nuisance.
Playback itself is good in my experience though. No stutter or continuous loading ring.
I’m using an Android tablet BTW.
I have been a Plex user for years - probably close to 15 years. I have LOVED it.
However, where is the customer feedback coming from that your content needs to be in 3 separate applications now (plex for movies, plexamp for music, and plex photos for photos) to use and see it. The beauty of plex is that all of your media content was available to accessible within one application. It was a centralized location to find all your media content.
I hope this is limited to mobile experience and will not bleed into the web or Roku versions of the application.

I feel the same, I am absolutely gutted and disgusted that they are removing music and photos from the main app. I don’t recall a single freaking user asking to have functionality removed. I get having a separate app for the music, but I don’t need it, I use the main app and I like having the proximity with my entire media library. That is the freaking point, PLEX, we are using you for the sake of consolidating our private media library. I want that library to include all the freaking media I desire, not just videos or streaming options. You have screwed so many of your users over, myself a lifetime pass user, by these thoughtless and reckless actions. I don’t think I can trust your company further with my media needs.
From a user experience, this has been the single worst update I’ve dealt with. Remote on android TV (on an Nvidia shield) only let’s me play, pause, restart video or exit. Cannot do anything else with the remote. Can’t skip ahead or back, can’t switch or enable subs or audio tracks while video is playing, nothing works. Also, I don’t seem to see a way to force a scan on mobile or tv, haven’t tried pc yet.
In such a broken state, can we be given an option to switch back? This is too broken to be of use.
Is there a way to revert back to the previous iPad client? This experience is horrible. I use my iPad to stream live tv from my home plex server daily. When using this new app, the live stream constantly freezes or just quits back to the Tv page of plex. You’re thinking it’s the network - nope. I’m the engineer who designed and implemented the wireless net and no other app has issues. In fact, if i use Safari to connect to my plex server over the same WiFi network,I am able to stream for the entire day without interruption. Sounds to me like there are issues with the plex app. Please tell me there’s a way to revert to the previous very functional version of the app!!!

I went through the rollback today in this thread, it’s involved, but works, and once it’s done it was easy enough to send 8.45 to my iphone and ipad again in the future via airdrop. Downgrade to old iOS Version and turn off updates only for Plex - Howto! - no jailbreak required

don’t ask for feedback on what needs to be done better in the new app. we’ve been doing this for 10 years and the results have been impressive. we don’t want to start from scratch and wait years to get back to what we already had. that’s madness. that’s DOGE
