Can confirm config.claspws.tv
is also blocked with pfBlockerNG on pfSense. You mentioned that you’re trying to get this to the actual plex.tv domain soon(ish). What is required from this third party site that we need to unblock it? Clearly it’s being blocked on ad reputation.
I don’t know if this was mentioned yet since this thread is gonna reach 1k posts soon, but I want to report that Chromecast subtitles handling seems borked. There is no way to switch to different subtitles. Clicking the button seem up only enable/disable subtitles. But even that worked only first time, now that button doesn’t do anything for me.
I’ve had this same experience re: the “CC” button selectively working to enable subtitles. I typically select subtitles in the episode / movie detail view first then hit play, but even with a subtitle selected there, when playing via Chromecast, the subtitle isn’t shown by default, and hitting the “CC” button sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t. The stream rebuffers every time I hit the “CC” button, but the subtitles themselves sometimes don’t show up and the button is de-selected after the rebuffering.

They broke the app! What were they thinking???!! Where’s the side menu or video shuffle? It’s God awful!
Broken downloads is a deal breaker for me. I’ve been patient and have been a plex pass user since the beginning. The new direction Plex is going is going is a real sad turn of events. Simple, user content driven software to enable home users to stream their content no longer seems to be the main focus of Plex. I don’t need a fancy app, I need one that works.
I have read over and over again that XYX function was removed from the app because there was not enough development time etc etc etc. If that is the case why release it? Why remove (or break) so many core functions that made Plex great? Using the Download X unplayed episodes was my number one feature in Plex, I used it all the time when traveling. Now…its just gone. Download are there but are not automatic and force you to manually download each episode. Not to mention, they will not even play back for me on android even after they are downloaded. I want to stay with Plex. However, I a am forced to look at other options like Jellyfin that provide what I need. For now, I think I will run both servers and wait for Plex to fix the broken app. If that happens, ill be back.
Downgrade. It works just fine and keeps the garbage away until it’s all fixed.
Using Windows Server (latest today) and “new experience” Android mobile app on a PIxel 8a:
- I really hate not being able to change from “Recommended” to “Library” view once in a library.
- Where did double-tap go to skip ahead and back? Please tell me it’s coming back: it’s massively useful.
- Pre-existing downloads on device don’t work right until you redownload them from your server-- you can’t scrub to the desired position, if you try it just restarts the video. If you have 10 or more downloads that becomes a chore. Oh, also, their thumbnails are gone to boot.
I mean, honestly, no one asked for this.
As far as 1. the fact i open the app, see recommended, then goto library, AGAIN see recommended instead of the actual library not only is terrible experiance for speed, but my elderly family get confused because they cant figure out how to get to the actual library anymore.
The rest is probably all because they released the app with all the issues we kept reporting in preview. dumped beta into the production branch, Hardly any of my family can access things because transcoding issues, errors, missing functions, etc. I am really sad since we been using Plex since somewhere around 2009 and now we may have to restart with another media server software
The issue is things like this need to be in the app like before. Why is there an app if you need web browser for everything?
I’m just also throwing my dissatisfaction in. I’ve been planning a switch to Jellyfin since the Hetzner issue, but unfortunately I’m still here until they fix their unauthenticated API endpoints.
This UI update finally got me to install and begin configuring Jellyfin, though. Apparently, Plex didn’t learn from the last time they got rid of their library-focused view.
If they wanted to introduce commercial-supported streams, they should have created a new app. Now the reputation of the current Plex app is dropping as the power users of Plex vote it down.
The Play Store rating is down .1 in the last 24 hours. I hope it continues until they give up on this wasted effort.
has anyone ended up with no sound from LIVE TV , HD HOME Run?
I can’t seem to remote control the app. Like the screenshot above. I can’t also queue up my videos from my nas server. Too many functions removed. The app should have stayed in beta. I’m putting back a previous version for now till they fix it
As a developer manager I’m horrified on how they allowed something that should have stayed in beta get launched
BTW, anyone else find the current download speeds to an Android phone ridiculous? I’m seeing like 2 MBytes/s or less approximately on a 5 GHz wifi signal from my Windows Plex Media server. What gives?
This was “not ready for prime time.” Honestly just embarrassing.
Same in iPhone plus keeps stops and buffering.
You mean they got rid of sorting too (by date added, title, randomly etc.? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, as they say.
How to do it for mobile devices only? On my TV attached devices, it is wanted.
Or will the service or account based settings be all that we get?
Now the downloading to device (a Pixel 8a) isn’t even reporting a speed it’s so slow. I honestly don’t think it’s doing anything.
If anyone from Plex is listening I need some help in this post PLEASE!: New Plex App issues - No Devices Found, unable to cast to other devices
I don’t really want to abandon Plex but the slow but steady enshitification of Plex is making me look at other solutions.
For the moment nearly all customization is only possible account wide.
They removed the device specific settings for library pinning, sorting, selected tabs, showed discovery content and such.
