As a long term subscriber I am extremely disappointed with the new experience.

I now cannot select to watch different versions of a movie or show when casting because, if I do select a different version than the default, it plays on my iPhone instead of the casting.

casting did not work at all initially because of my secure DNS setup at home. To fix this I had to allowlist a new domain. What is this URL for?

Opening the details of any movie or episode is now painfully slow. Instead of a max 5 seconds to open the details pane, now it can take 30 seconds or more!
Overall a terrible experience and I severely regret pressing the upgrade button in the App Store.
New experience is terrible so far. As a lifetime plex pass owner I’m disappointed and worried that this is the beginning of the end of a “functional” plex.
And the Play Store rating is down another .1. I hope the trend continues, honestly.
I always watch on my phone before bed and I always have the autoplay off and then when an episode finishes and I don’t press next episode my screen would turn off in 30 sec or so.
Now with the new iOS update my phonescreen is on all night until I wake up in the morning (draining my battery if not plugged in) waiting for me to press it for the next episode to play even with the pass out protection on. I can’t seem to find any setting to change this and I hope it will be fixed soon. I really hate sleeping with a bright screen in my face the whole night ![]()
Hopefully they fix this, but what happens when you set an apple timer and you set “when the timer ends” to “stop playing?” Does that turn the screen off?
I also watch shows on my phone to sleep, but I always set an iOS timer and don’t use the plex passout timer ever, but I’m also on 8.45.
If you go into playback options while the episode is playing there is a sleep timer option in plex that you can set it to end after the current item finishes playing.
Haven’t tried it yet, I don’t like it when it plays the next episode automatically because it makes it harder for me to find where I left off so I always have it off and with a timer I never know if I’m watching 3 episodes or the first 10 min of one before I fall asleep

I can’t remember if I’ve feedback here but, have raised this issue elsewhere. Live TV (OTA) from my HD Homerun has stopped working. No Picture or sound however the server shows the channel as being played out. Have tried on iPad and iPhone both the same. Have tried uninstalling and re-installing the iPad app, still fine. Incidentally Plex channels are working no problem however these cause the app to freeze up.
The new app for Android is horrible, significant reduction in usability and performance, key features missing. Reverting to a previous build via apk has made Plex reusable. Key things missing and issues:
-unable to download media and auto download on episode completion.
-weird connection and reconnect issues if wifi or cellular network interrupted.
-very slow to load items, and next to no buffering.
-does not offer background music to media when browsing.
-scaling of media is inconsistent and inaccurate.
2025.16 downloads still fail instantly, get off your ass and fix it already
Have you provided logs previously?
Might be a good idea to grab new ones and post those here regardless, they’re generally always useful for the guys looking into these issues.
I have multiple times and im over it, this isnt the first time ive uploaded my logs mulitple times for a issue, and my issues still havent been fixed after months.
downloads havent worked ever since the new experience app was rolled out and i have other issues that have been around since end of last year and nothing has been done about them even though me and others have uploaded our logs multiple times.
so from now on im only uploading once for an issue, anymore then that is a waste of my time
I’m back again for another run around as I’ve been trying to use a “feature” I rarely used before. I’ve just been away on holiday and the TVs had Chromecast built in, so I thought I’d give it a go. Unfortunately, it didn’t go to plan.
Issues
- Not all devices were found on the network.
- Connecting to a device regularly failed - but would eventually connect after trying numerous times. But then…
- Devices would regularly get disconnected.
- Unable to cast Live TV - Always loaded the channel into the annoying preview window taking up half my mobile screen. Didn’t get this to work once.
All this frustration and messing around led me to downgrade the app to an old one and guess what… It all pretty much just worked. Especially the discovery of all devices.
I’ve already started my search for alternatives for the future, here’s another “feature” I will add to my test list.
EDIT: To add, I was attempting all of this using the Android App.
When are you going to revert to the previous app?

I’m cross-posting here because there haven’t been any replies to the other thread I created…
In the new Plex Android app, I can no longer cast any content whatsoever to the built-in Chromecast on my Visio TV. The app connects, but when I try to play something, it just sits at “0:00” timestamp on my phone, and the TV only shows the Plex logo. I looked through the client logs and didn’t see anything that looked useful, but I can provide them anyway if needed.
I technically started having problems with the latest few version of the “old” Plex experience, but also affects every version of the “new” app that I’ve tried. I tested the 2025.16 beta today and it unfortunately still has the same issue. In order to get anything working again I have to revert all the way back to 10.21.1.1562.

This is the main TV in my house where we do nearly all of our viewing, so it’s pretty frustrating to have it just completely stop working.
I’m having this exact same issue as the previous post.
I have been a plex user for probably 15 years now. Never had any issues like I have the past week or so since this terrible update got pushed out.
I have a Vizio TV with Chromecast built it, but nothing is working.
It’s super annoying
I try to cast and it does nothing. It sits at the Plex splash screen and the app sits at 0:00
I open the app on the TV, but I can’t login with my account.. It just spins and never signs in. For some reason my kids account was able to sign in though?
I thought I’d try and install Plex on my PS5 and it worked without any issues.
It plays from my phones
I can cast to alternative TVs that have older Chromecast’s plugged into their HDMI ports.
Super annoying that my primary TV isn’t letting me cast from my phone or the App on it do what it should.
