What upsets me is that I was a Plex fanboy. My loyalty is gone, and if Plex continues to allow other users like Krazeh to push users off to other solutions, they will go.
I’m evaluating other solutions now installed in parallel on my media server. Plex has inertia in its favor, but I’m not planning to stick around to be mistreated forever.
I have not, and likely won’t. I’m not anti-Plex stuff. I’d still like to retain access.
Mine is most assuredly different. There is not a single hub of my stuff there. There are at least 6 in the old app before Plex stuff starts to show up.
That’s not intended however, the new app is just still severely bugged.
Toggle the favorite marking on your libraries back and forth and your content will show on the home page eventually.
I even think THAT bug is one of the major reasons for the backlash, because everybody has their content hidden and goes on a road rage, but that was never even intended in the first place.
However there seems to be no interest in tracking and fixing that malfunction.
To add here, hold down on the Library Tab then select “See All Libraries”. Tap the Heart button in the order you want the Libraries to appear on the home page. Then click the back arrow. You should now see a list of “Favorite Libraries”. You can reorder them using the button at the bottom.
Then go to the home page and you should see your favorited libraries at the top, with Plex ondemand content below.
Go to his profile and jfreiman and set their notifications to ignore. You won’t see their posts anymore. I highly recommend because they are both combative bootlickers.
Edit: combining posts to cut down noise
He hid his account like a coward so you can’t block him the easy way, but there is a workaround.

I thought it odd at first too, but found that friends on my server are actually discovering so much more on my server and I think it’s precisely because Plex added these ‘extra’ Library buttons!
Friends and family no longer “stay” in one of my Libraries and are branching out and watching even more content from my server.
I didn’t know if this is why this new Library listing was added, but it’s send line it’s benefitting my friends and it certainly makes me happy that the shows and movies I’ve been collecting for 30 years are getting the attention/plays I feel they deserve and is why I purchased them in the first place.
I don’t know how long you have been using Plex or maintained your own Plex server, but do you think this is new!?
It’s been several years since Plex removed the Studio/distributor from the Client GUI and that was a huge blow to the self-hosting community.
I hear/read that once was going to add this back to the GUI, but I haven’t seen any mention of it.
Do while you might be correct in your evaluation that Plex’s vision is different than yours/ours/many, it’s nothing new.
It’s funny how small things like this keep happening over time, but no one says anything about it until Plex starts making huge changes that don’t seem to meet you needs…
Maybe if you voiced your needs, made suggestions, feature requests, etc Plex would be making other or different changes now, today, to the new experience being released today.
It might be too little to late.
To all those users who were silent or didn’t choose to offer feedback over the years - Thanks for nothing.
Then my strong suggestion to you is to start a new thread describing your Library usage and why the old UI is preferred.
If enough people have libraries organized as you do, then their might be a need for Plex to address this.
But my guess is that you have 20-60 Libraries, some with 5 files others with 100-1000.
Each library is organized by what Categories and or Genres are designed for - *but I could be wrong. *
If my above assumption is correct, then you and your users are missing out on so many other functions and features that exist in Plex and that’s a shame.
I have 4 libraries, 2 of which I manually curated and have full search and filter capabilities. Making related content easy to watch, with little to no searching from the main Plex Search needed.
Nearly everything in my two libraries can be discovered using the Library filters in both the old and new UI (thought the side filters need adjusting IMO).
*Again, I recommended you create a new thread. If it has a well explained Subject heading, I’m sure you’ll get some views and responses with similar requests to have your needs reevaluated. *
While I do agree that some users who post don’t require a response, I do think that users who seem to have real issues buried inside their ranting/tantrum, need to be directed to restate and focus on that one or two concerns.
Which I try to do.
*I miss the Music feature as well and find that removing entirely removing Music from the Plex ecosystem is a platform wide mistake.
A separate app would be fine, but it must be made available for every device that the Plex “video” client is available for.
I can’t help but think this was a quick, last minute decision on the part of Plex mgt.
If this want a list minute decision, it begs the question why wasn’t the Music library function depreciated a year or more ago?
Maybe the place is to open up a 3rd party ecosystem for Music apps and Photo apps? - I didn’t know, in just fishing/wishfully thinking out loud.
While I do think that The Plex app should contain Music, I don’t feel that is true for photos.
I think that photos are best integrated with cloud provides where your metadata and facial rec databases are maintained.
I am a self -hoster on Plex and have been for decades?
Nearly 100% of what I watch is hosted my my server. I have 30 years of videos I’ve been collecting on my server with over 170,000 videos,
Over 33,000 videos are in self procured libraries and I have spent several hours per day, 52 weeks a year for over a decade manually entering metadata into each MP4 file so that they appear in Plex with nearly as much data as the Plex Movie and TV Libraries do.
So I have a lot to lose if Plex’s experience gets worse.
A useable experience that contributes to a better overall experience for my family and friends.
So far, I have only a few family and friends using the new experience, but my streams specifically from those users has risen since the change - fact.
That’s what’s in it for me, and that’s what I have to lose. Plain and simple.
New UI
In general, don’t dislike the new experience. There are still issues and bugs with it, but the UI isn’t bad in my opinion.
I do 100% want music back
I personally don’t care about photos, but IMO, I don’t think Plex is the best home for user photos not now or in the future.
Photos should be in your Google, Microsoft or Apple cloud - these services have facial recognition. Plex doesn’t and if it did, who would maintain people data on both their cloud and on Plex? It makes no sense.
If you don’t agree with me, don’t believe my motives, etc, that’s fine.
Please post what you like, but if you expect a response from Plex or from others on here (or anywhere in life) you need to make a point and state a fact.
Given that you “want the old Plex UI back” what is their for anyone to reply to?
And yes, I believe I have read Plex’s respons to that specific question and it was something to the effect of, they aren’t going back.
My question to you and others is why aren’t you creating posts to help make the new experience better then the old one?
