So I run Plex Media Server on a Mac Mini and about 7 months ago it just stopped recognizing and adding any new media to my library.
I have updated the software routinely (that’s Plex, MacOs and iTunes - they are all running the latest versions).
The server does routine scans but just doesn’t recognize any new files.
I do keep my media on an external hard drive and just use iTunes to manage it in terms of folder naming etc (it’s set to copy a file to my iTunes folder when importing).
I have seen that there have been some similar threads previously, but nothing that is in those threads stands out as explaining what’s going on with me - with the possible exception of there maybe being an issue with regard to the sequence in which external hard drives have been mounted during boot - I may have switch the USB port used when unplugging/plugging in my drive - but would that really just break PMS? iTunes wasn’t phased by it as that’s up to date.
Today I tried to refresh all metadata for my movies - but that seems to have now included all my TV shows as individual episodes in the movies library.
Can anyone recommend the best sequence of actions to try troubleshooting and restoring my functionality? Or am I better to just delete my PMS software and start afresh by generating a new library?
