I’ve just received a message on my 2018 Panasonic TV when starting the Plex App:
“This app will be renewed soon. Please log in again to continue using Plex”
The TV is a Firefox OS-based device and I thought that there was no further development of that client. Has anyone else on here seen this message recently or has any knowledge of this?
Note that this is NOT appearing on my other 2016 Panny (also a Firefox OS device)
Also getting this message on my 2020 Panasonic tv.
Hoping there will be an update as it rarely works having to use my Xbox for plex for most my content.
Was under the impression they gave up updating on Panasonic TV’s hoping that’s not the case.
Yep can skip to the next episode in tv shows.
I tried a few movies and tv shows does appear to be much better a few tv shows came up with an unexpected error so I suspect I will need to tweak the settings a little.
Considering it rarely worked and had to use my Xbox this is a big improvement.
oh, wow, actually with the “old version” i don’t have errors for years… it work very well for movies and for tv series, only it miss some feature like “skip”. My setup is done in a pc very powerfull (intel i5 8th generation) with a plex server run on linux… and all files are encoded very well, so the tv client don’t have too much work.
I’m very excited for this news, when i will back to home i will give you feedback!
But the update of the app is done by itself or i must logoff and logon again?
I’ve not done a full investigation yet, but I seem to be getting errors in files with EAC3 audio - they just won’t play. 4K won’t play either. I have tried via servers running on 3 different machines -windows, Shield & TrueNAS (linux). The files play fine via web, Shield,
Firestick or android mobile.
I’m using TX-65FX700. Normally direct, but tried transcoding too. The same files are fine on other devices & played fine on the Panasonic prior to the update. I would expect some issues with large 4K files, especially at higher bitrates, but some of these are fairly low quality /rate.
