New iOS app on iPhone and iPad - lightning to hdmi no longer works

On a road trip - fired up my old iPad to find the new app. Cool.

Oh but downloads are no longer grouped - okay a bit annoying but whatever

Plug in my trust lightning to usb adapter, fire up an episode for the kids but what - it’s still playing on my iPad. Yes the video does show up but it’s mirroring the iPad not just using the external monitor as the destination like it used to. Tried my iPhone 12 Pro - same thing. Tried Disney plus, works fine. What gives? Is this a known issue with the new app video player? Also the audio track can’t be changed

It’s a known issue/feature gap. It should be available when version 2025.17.0 makes it out of beta (or a subsequent release):

I did some testing with stage manager with my M1 iPad Pro, and it worked fine.

As @pshanew mentioned, the fix for normally mirroring should be here soon, currently in beta.

I didn’t recall seeing this specific feature limitation in any communications, so once again Plex for the own goal.

Downloaded the update today. Oddly, when I’m using the external monitor and I push the power button on my iPad to lock the screen, the video freezes in place on the external device but the audio continues. I have to unlock the device and go back to the black plex screen for it to catch up.
