New live TV grid limited to twelve hours

As of November 9, the latest (much more readable) guide now provides only twelve hours of information. Is this an error?

Have you tried manually downloading the guide data to force refresh?

Yes, a couple of times.

Since the change occurred Saturday, I’ll re-try the manual download later today. But so far, no joy - I’m still at a 12-hour guide window.

What version of PMS do you have installed on and what OS is it running on?

What is country and postal/zip code?

Are you using XMLTV for your guide data?

Thanks for your prompt response. With regard to your questions:

  1. Using PMS Version 1.16.6.1554 for Windows 10 Pro (32 bit).

[Note: PMS Versions 1.17 and 1.18 have begun producing “an error occurred while post-processing the recording” issues.]

  1. North Carolina zip 27713

  2. Using the Plex default guide for “Broadcast TV-Raleigh-Drhm-Fytville OTA Broadcast”.

I’m currently deleting the DVR and trying again - so far, nothing. Any help or suggestions as to why I’m now looking at a 12-hour guide window will be appreciated.

Thanks.

An interesting development:

Refreshing the DVR produces the full multi-day guide on the SERVER.

However, the guide that displays on the PLEX FIRE TV APP (most current Plex update) is still limited to twelve hours.

Not sure if it’s a Plex or Fire TV issue; I plan to see what happens on a Roku later this afternoon.

Thanks.

Thanks for the update, looking forward to learning if it’s FireTV or what

Fired up a Roku stick and the full guide appeared.

I wallow in ignorance, but it does appear that the problem lies in the Amazon app and not in PMS.

Once again, thank you for your response and assistance.

I have the same issue, but I’m running ShieldTV. Only 24 hours (if that) is displayed. If I hop on server, it shows the full week (or so). Looks like the logic on some of the clients is buggy…

Thanks - so it does appear that the problem may be exclusive to Android TV boxes/sticks.

Hard to understand how or why this type of anomaly could occur. But, as I mentioned, I wallow in ignorance.

I also have discovered this issue, having recently updated PMS on my Synology NAS and the Plex app on my Android tablet (Samsung).
Hope this Android anomaly can be fixed soon, because the Plex experience is otherwise getting better and better!

Interesting, isn’t it. This limited-guide anomaly appears to exist only on Android and Android-derived players. For me, both PMS and all Roku (non-Android) players display the full two-week guide.

Incidentally, I’m not sure that the latest PMS update is the culprit. I had other DVR issues with the most recent Plex server updates (1.18.x.xxxx and 1.19.x.xxxx) on my Windows 10 server, so I re-installed PMS version 1.17.0.1841. This re-install solved my
DVR problems but the twelve-hour guide issue remains.

I do think that the new guide format is a vast improvement over the previous incarnation - I just want the rest of my guide back.

Have a nice Thanksgiving.

Hi @xy2358_hotmail_com, for the platforms that did not have the “old” version of the guide we wanted to get something to those platforms as quickly as possible, so we released it as a 12hr version while we continue to work on improvements to caching and pagination across all platforms. We are working towards the full 14 days of guide data (when the metadata provider has it) everywhere, and it should be significantly more performant than the previous version.

You have a nice Thanksgiving too!

Hello. Any word on this? I’m a new user and was just disappointed to run into this. I’m trying to transition from my HTPC setup to something Plex centered. Thanks

Nothing as of today (January 2) on Fire sticks or Android devices - all still at 12 or so hours. Roku devices, however, do receive the full two-week guide.

My Shield is displaying more than 12 hours of guide data. Also from the Plex Release Announcements - Android TV beta page it appears it has been out for 30 days. Amazon app seems to still be behind in what version they are displaying in their app store but as I understand it typically takes Amazon longer to approve apps on their store. You can of course download the apk file to sideload the updated app on your Fire TV device if you desire.

Very disappointing as I try to move away from Media Center… And I just bought the Plex pass lifetime yet I can only see 12 hours of guide. Fix this soon or I’ll just abandon Plex :frowning:

Thanks, John.

Side-loaded the latest beta release onto bot a current Fire Stick and a Fire Stick 4K. Full two-week grid does appear, but the app crashes repeatedly. Guess that’s why it’s still a beta.

But I appreciate your update - there is hope.

If the app is crashing the Devs would probably like to take a look at the app logs. You can get them on the Fire TV by going into the Plex App settings scroll down to Advanced and turn on Network logging. Once turned on you will see a Logs available at and the URL to use for the logs. Replicate the issue in which the app crashed and then try retrieving the logs using the URL displayed. This does need to be done in a timely manner as I believe network logging turns off after 10-15 minutes I believe.

After a long time, my Fire TV got the update to version 7.27.0.15018 today. Now full EPG is available.
