New Media not appearing in my Library even after refreshing & updating Library

Hi ChuckPA.

Could you help me by any chance? I am running QNAP for my NAS with NUC(Win10) for my PMS. I am currently using the UNC path on my NUC from my NAS to obtain my library, but I am having trouble getting the library to update by detecting changes in the folder. I currently have it updating periodically every 15 minutes, which works, but I would prefer the former method.

I have been tinkering around with the Shared Folder Permissions, but I feel like I am missing some information. I currently have admin with R/W access and guest with full access. I am hoping to modify the permissions where no one without permission would be able to modify my media files via Microsoft Network Access, but plex would be able to update and read the files.

Notification (detection) does not work across the network because there is nothing on the file server side telling you anything changed.

So there is no solution for this if my media/files are in a file server?

Iā€™m having the same problem, All new files are not appearing. Plex software doesnā€™t appear to refresh despite my attempt to manually refresh. How does allowing ā€œplexā€ permission to read when this wasnā€™t required before? Does this mean that Plex will be able to see the files on my server?

Thank Trumpy81, however I donā€™t think Iā€™m using Synology. My nas is a Seagateā€¦

Because Iā€™m new here and stumbled on this thread as the previous poster appears to be having the same trouble as meā€¦ I appreciate your help, however I must admit that I havenā€™t used Plex for sometime as Netflix and Amazon Prime has kept me busy but there is a real problem, as it hasnā€™t refreshed my movie or TV folders for over 4 months.

Yep its always enabledā€¦ interestingly Iā€™ve just manually updated my nas to the latest OS (not available automatically) and now the manually scan function has sprung back into life.

plex has been running terribly lately, all of a sudden i couldnā€™t access my playlists, to fix i had to delete them all and start fresh.

NOW it wonā€™t add new files from folders into my librariesā€¦ why is this happening and how can i fix it??!

Hi Guys,

I think I found the solution to this problem. You need to go into the Properties of the folder (right click on the folder) you store your stuff in and uncheck Read only.
