New Mobile app solutions don't provide any method for Chromecasting to Nest?!

Server Version#: 1.41.7.9823
Player Version#: 2025.16.0

In short, I have been a Plex user for many years and one of my highest use cases is casting movies to our Google Nest devices. We have a Google Hub, but we also have multiple Nest and Mini devices. My children like to fall asleep to listening to movies and I have been casting them from the Plex app for years to these devices.

Obviously, these are audio only devices, but casting a video file to them has always worked flawlessly with only the audio (obviously) coming through. This can still be done from the old mobile app, and also from the Web.

However, the new mobile app appears to have taken out the ability to cast to any devices that don’t accept video. This seems to be the new approach according to:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/chromecast-airplay-and-casting/

The both the Android and iOS mobile apps support casting to video Chromecast devices and devices that have Chromecast “built-in” like some TV’s or Google Streamer.

This above statement is true only of the new mobile app. Again, the older app is still perfectly capable of casting to ANY Chromecast device, not only those that support video.

Only with PlexAmp can we cast to the next, but of course my Video library is not accessible through PlexAmp, only my audio files!

The new lineup does not provide any options for continuing to cast the audio from a video file to an audio only Chromecast device.

As this feature works and is supported by the older client and the Chromecast, why isn’t this still supported?

I’m perfectly happy to continue to use the old app. It is clear the new mobile app experience is reviled by just about everyone. I’m sure there is much work to be done.
However, I’m extremely concerned that at some point I’m going to be forced to use it, or this functionality will otherwise be crippled.

Can I request someone from the Plex team address this omission from the new clients and explain the rationale?

Thank you.
