I am at my wits end. I have ripped my 4 DVD set for Gettysburg and Gods and Generals. The 2 movies consist of 2 parts and there’s a bunch of bonus material.
I have moved the content into my Movies folder under 2 subfolders and named as follows:
Gettysburg (1993)
– Gettysburg (1993) - pt1.mp4
– Gettsyburg (1993) - pt2.mp4
– Bonus Material
– lots of files under here
Gods and Generals (2003)
– Gods and Generals (2003) - pt1.mp4
– Gods and Generals (2003) - pt2.mp4
– Bonus Material
– lots of files under here
Plex is only showing me one file for Gettysburg (GETTYSBURG_Title1). This is one of the bonus files. If I look at the info for that it lists all the files including the bonus content but playing that “movie” only plays the single bonus file.
For Gods and General it does something similar, only showing a single file: GODS_AND_GENERALS_SIDE_A_Title_1. This was the original name of part 1 which I have since renamed.
I have tried moving all the files out to a temp folder, rescanning the library, deleting trash, moving back and rescanning but it refuses to fix the library.
Consider naming the combined movie as Gettysburg (1993) - {tmdb-10655}.mkv, particularly if you already have a video with a similar title in this library.
That is embedded into the mp4 file as meta tag. Either prevent it from getting into there in the first place, or remove it using a metadata editor like e.g. mp3tag
After preparing the files as described above, you are best off performing a full Plex Dance with the movie and all its extras.
Disable automatic library updates - or -
Never rip/download directly into a folder which has been added to a Plex library.
Otherwise there is the danger of Plex trying to match a file which is still in the process of being copied/ripped/downloaded. Which can easily lead to wrong matches.
