New OS drive, same Library Drive. Easy move?

Server Version#: v.1.41.6.9685-d301f511a
Player Version#: n/a

Hello all! I have been running a home Plex server on a Windows 10 desktop PC for a few years now. The PC has two hard drives, an SSD with Windows installed, and a large HDD with my libraries.

Today, the SSD with Windows on it died. I bought a new SSD, installed and updated Windows, and reinstalled Plex Media Server on the device. Since this is a new instance of Plex Media Server, my “old library” is inaccessible and a new library was made with all of my media on it.

My question is this: Is there a way to make Plex recognize and connect to my old server instead of creating a new one? It isn’t a huge deal if not, but it will save me some busywork in organizing things and getting my friends added to the new library, but I thought I would ask. Thanks in advance!

If your old server’s data directory was on that SSS with the operating system, that server is gone for good and can’t be restored (unless you have some backup).

What you see is the old server still remembered by your account (an authorized device you used to connect to). This will either go away over time or you can remove it from the list of authorized devices in the web app.

I was worried as such, thanks for confirming! Luckily all my files are intact, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to rebuild. Thanks!
