"New Player" doesn't stop auto-enabling its garbage self

That’s not something I’m directly involved with, but I think that’s unlikely to change :man_shrugging:

Thanks! What did you watch, and what rough time, so I can find things a little quicker?

2 movies and a tv show waiting a minute in between each one failing to display the video and only audio.

Mortal Engines
The First Wives Club
The Bugs Bunny Show.

… and you don’t think the names of that material is important enough to mention?

No Time of Day
No show/movie names
and armed with that, you want an employee to search through those logs to fix your issue?

They can pull the old player from the next release.
Works fine at my house.

As it does at mine also.

On the minix if you will look at the file i uploaded . I only viewed 3 different files and i gave you the full log from my server. Yes i can go and look at the device again when i have another day off. Sorry some of us work for a living and are not at home every day or even during the week.

Mortal Engines at 1126pm 2nd time now. no video only audio. Plex server showing direct play.
Same as reported before except i only played 3 files they all failed on the reported device and i gave you my server log. I dont see how my server has anything to do with why one device out of 10 cant play the player.

The bugs bunny show 1130pm 2nd time Avi file fails same issue with the new player on this device.

Castle s01e01 1136pm no video only audio.

@DaveBinM

Do you need me to perform any other test on the Minix Neo U1?

Not at the moment, I’m still looking into this

This is still happening, even with the latest update.

Shield 2015 (fully updated OS and client). New player is a mess when remotely accessing transcoded MPEG2 HDHomeRun locals or DirectPlay H.264 HDHR Prime cable. It will randomly freeze, requiring to back out and start again. If trying to seek backward, God knows what it will do; it can go back to a program from the previous hour. And of course, as others have pointed out, it won’t remember being disabled. The ‘old’ player generally works fine.

Got some logs or a sample?

`Hi Dave, thanks for your response. I reproduced about every just under 4 minutes with new player beginning at 20:00 local time, using both HDHR and HDHR Prime tuner sources. Both audio and video froze beginning at approx 20:00. Each time I had to back out and retune. Freezes were (minutes after 20:00) :04, :08, :12, :23, :27, :31, (channel change at :32) :35. Prior to switching to the new player, there was a 2 hour connection to a Prime channel without a single hiccup – of course using the old player.

IT’S STILL DOING THIS!

Come on, what is taking so long? It never does this on the old player!

Doing what? Being enabled, or causing issues while enabled? If you’re having playback issues while it’s enabled, please provide some detailed information, including your network setup and steps to reproduce, as well as logs from client.

The old player is going away (as you hvae been told). I suggest you spend the time and fix whatever is broken in your system that causes the new player problems.

Hi @DaveBinM, Just checking to see whether you were able to review the Shield/Android TV client logs I attached last week?

I’ve passed them along to our engineering team, but I don’t have any news as yet, I’m afraid

Thanks, Dave. I’m a patient guy :). Just hoping those logs help you to identify this pesky issue which seems to be plaguing many of us. My biggest fear is that you will make the new player mandatory before a fix is found, rendering Live remote viewing completely dead for those of us affected by this abhorrent behavior.

I might need a raw sample from an affected channel, if that’s okay? Just a straight capture from the tuner (without Plex or anything else getting in the way) to see if we can recreate the issue.
