I guess it’s up twice. Once to get the OSD to appear and a second time to jump to the seek bar. Here it is btw where VPTs are shown. I normally do like that:
Pause, up (twice?) , right to desired spot which I can see due to VPT, play. Works like a charm and I also like the left/right skipping during normal playback.
I stopped cutting dvr’ed content because this works so well.
It’s kind-of a PITA - until you see you’d like to have a method that ‘bumps’ at 30 forward and 10 back with no OSD. I want that now, so a little PITA is worth it. Here’s why:
On Roku UNO when I hit right D-Pad/Left D-pad I’m into the VPT and the OSD and the scrub-bar. No way around it. The OSD is the PITA as there is no longer a possibility of 30s forward or 10s back due to the Mentally Disabled at Roku INC.
Yes, we beeched loudly at both Plex and Roku INC - Plex was doing what they could, which was nothing, and Roku (cowering behind the secure walls at Roku INC) was real proud for having micturated-off every Plex User on the Planet now out for blood , or Heads, or Gonads - whatever - something for the Mantelpiece.
I’d love to have 30f/10b again on Roku, but that’s not gonna happen, and now it seems unlikely to have anything happen without an OSD flying up into our faces. That’s a bummer.
If the FireTV app is ever made to work properly, look properly, perform properly - I’m looking forward to using it occasionally and not having an OSD bash my brains out when I don’t need it.
Proving once again - no ONE Plex app is EVER enough (I use two regularly - perhaps my FireTV one day). Unless your ‘tolerance’ for crap is so high, you won’t even shoo flies off your lips while eating ice cream.
The ‘Other’ great thing about the FireTV was ‘Information Overlay’ - instant, informative, handy - I fear now overdeveloped to point of uselessness - but we’ll all find out together.
Any expected date for when info overlay will be available on Nvidia Shield TV?
Apparently not ![]()
They’ve been pretty tight lipped on it… The fact that they are pushing the new player before it is feature complete as a replacement is somewhat frustrating (constantly changing the setting back to the new player is malicious in my opinion).
That said, I have actually switched to the new player despite this missing feature because it does actually handle playback better than the old player.
Agreed. I haven’t played any 4K content for a while but it did handle it a lot better than the old player the last time I did.
We never disclose dates or roadmaps, I’m afraid
This is understandable, I get it. And I appreciate you taking an active roll in informing us as much as you have via forum posts. But I must implore you to pass on to the powers that be that repeatedly reverting user settings as part of an update is crossing a line.
I can’t make any promises, but I’ll pass the feedback along
So… here we are, ages later… is the information overlay ever returning?
You need to drill for:
The New and Improved Information Overlay
Once visible via one click
Now Improved to a Dozen
Nice, eh?
Please explain. The only way I can find any information is navigating through many menus.
You got it.
The old IO - gone.
The New and Improved - madly drilling for info while the item plays IO - here to stay.
Adding my voice to this. Please fix this regression.
Why is the option till there to show overlay information if the feature is disabled/not yet implemented? This is confusing, making the user (me) having to search the forums trying to get an explanation why the feature isn’t working.
Also miss having time left shown when I pause the video, why was this removed?
lol I totally missed the sarcastic tone in your first message. Text strikes again.
The overlay has been gone so long, I’m losing hope. I usually end up using another tool to check via my phone or laptop as that is actually easier than the ludicrous number of menus currently required on the player app.
I lost hope when it became clear Plex was Proud of the New Drill For Information Feature. The good part is the way they destroyed every Android App on the planet recently - so I don’t have to try to use it.
Bumping thread, this is still an outstanding issue.
the months and years just fly by…
How do you like the latest invention:
Flashing a New Vomit Smear Background for EVERY Poster as you Browse!
Also for the TV Guide!
You know… that missing info overlay is the least of our worries.
The app is unusable as it is - so neither are getting much air time in Juiceville.
