ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!!!. It’s pushing ultra rightwing media like NewsMax on the start page too. It’s the opposite of incremental improvements– whatever that is called. Screw Plex! Plex management seems to be doing everything they can to destroy brand loyalty. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I co-sign this. The new Roku app is HORRIBLE. Please just give me my old UI back, I want my local media on the left to select from, it’s too many movements and clicks now to get to what I want, it used to be convenient, now it’s not.
The UI is not intuitive, and it takes longer to do what I want Plex to do. Please go back to the way it was, I really don’t want to change platforms, but if it stays the way it is, I will have to do so, it’s unusable now :(.
I purchased a lifetime Plex pass years ago because your platform rocked, this is the first issue I’ve had with it, but this issue of usability is huge. Maybe the goal is to get us lifetime members to leave? I don’t know.

Who thought it was a good idea to group “Playlists” underneath individual Libraries? As a heavy user of playlists, I often mix shows and cartoons and movies in order to string together an evening’s entertainment. Now I have to navigate to the specific library which has content in a particular playlist in order to even see the playlist.
This is stupid.

netflix made the same change recently, and my first reaction was “Oh crud… I hope Plex doesn’t copy this stupidity”. Well Plex… you’re now literally following terrible decisions made by Netflix now.

It appears most streaming apps look at what Netflix does and copies it. Anything they do no matter how terrible everyone else feels they have to replicate in order to keep up without actually analyzing it to see if it is an improvement, it’s absolutely pathetic.

ABSOLUTELY Despise the new Roku Plex app! Been a Plex user since near the beginning and a Lifetime pass holder for 10 years. This new Roku Plex update is the worst by far. Also Plex is crashing if you have subtitles enabled for most things on the new version. See other threads about this.

This new app is absolute trash, it’s bad, and whatever lunatics they have running the QC on this release need to all be shitcanned immediately. There is absolutely NOTHING redeeming about the UI change, it is 100% the worst thing I’ve ever seen. How could ANYONE have thought these changes were even remotely good, ESPECIALLY REMOVING THE SIDEBAR FOR THE USELESS TOP BAR PIECE OF CRAP?
This is enough to make me axe plex and swap to Jellyfin, i don’t care if its slightly worse, at least i’m not paying for a product that CLEARLY doesn’t respect its users at all.

I actually went to Emby. I found it to be a large enough improvement over Jellyfin to be worth paying for. I think the important thing is that as many people switch from Plex as possible to show that they can’t just ignore their users.

I think you’re right-ish. Swiching may get their attention, but ONLY if you remove their apps. Removals are typically tracked and have a more meaningful place in board members list of priorities

Unfortunately I think you’re right. Hopefully enough of the people that switch are monthly Plex Pass holders so that it hits their wallet rather than just their user numbers.
Considering the amount of data collected by Plex I’m sure they can also see a correlation in usage though. It’s obvious that they don’t care about their users otherwise they would at least say something about all the negative feedback.

Just adding my two cents. I can pretty much agree with everything that everybody has to say in this thread. I’ve already downloaded jellyfin, and I’ve started to use it. While, it doesn’t have some of the features that I’ve gotten used to on Plex, at least the navigation doesn’t suck and it loads quickly. Something this new Plex design does not do.To the folks that designed and approved this change, I hope you’re looking for a new job soon.

It would be nice if this site had polls. I think there would be more incentive for people mildly annoyed versus the people who are mostly annoyed to provide additional feedback. I hate the new design.

Which is weird, because Netflix continuously making their UI worse is one of the primary things that originally pushed me to cancel my subscription and set up a Plex server. If I wanted Netflix I know where to find it.
