New Plex client broken on Apple TV / iPhone - May 2020 - THEY FIXED IT!

Plex has updated the Apple TV client, and my iPhone client, and it’s broken the connection to my QNAP. It’s been working flawlessly for years but now the library doesn’t connect.

It says that the server is out of date. The QNAP has operating system QTS 4.2 and the Plex client now says it needs the server updated. However, I need to install QTS 4.3 on the NAS to install Plex. Well, I can’t because the NAS model is 7 years old won’t install QTS 4.3. So I’m stuck.

The QNAP has server V1.14.1.488 (installation Date 2019/08/14) and works flawlessly.

So Plex, having paid a lifetime subscription, I can no longer use what I paid for.

Please give us the option to install a backward compatible Apple TV Client.

The only option now is to use Infuse 6 on Apple TV, which connects to the QNAP server.

Perhaps this will have to be the way to access my libraries now. I don’t hold out hope of Plex addressing this issue.

The other thing I don’t like with the new client, apart from it not working, is all the 'movies, podcast, news etc. etc. ’ that Plex now provides. I don’t want that.

Please address this issue Plex.

Did you update your Plex app on the Apple TV to 2.18.1 yet? This release is supposed to have resolved the issue of failing to browse libraries on older server versions. Though I’m not certain if it supports that far back:

You can see what version you’re currently running from the bottom of the settings list. If you’re on version 2.18, you can force an update from the Purchased section of the App Store.

Success!!

Looks like they fixed it overnight with a new release.

Apple TV is now running 2.18.1 Build 15619…which fixes the issue.

THANKS PLEX GUYS AND GIRLS!!!
