Can i set foreign language for folder & movies name or do i need to use english name for a better matching ?
When testing with tmdb agent, if the library setting was set in French but name in English, i had bad result. When switching to full French, matching was almost perfect.
You can name the files according to your library language. This preview will (currently) however only download English metadata (descriptions)
Not sure if you are looking for benchmarks but… on a dual core processor, 16Gb memory and a 700+ movie library it completed grabbing everything in 14 minutes. This is with single movies in their own folders, and named via the recommended naming conventions.
Trailers and stuff seem to be good… great cast information… that all looks good, and I am seeing the ratings from rotten tomatoes and popcorn good.
When I try and play trailers I am getting an error… not sure if that is relevant, as it is saying that the transcoder failed to start.
Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up.
Changed to the “old library” and made sure that the trailer works ok there… and it does… so not sure if that is an issue or not?
This is a grab of what is happening in the console:
There doesn’t seem to be any collections… although there are a lot of collections in the old library… such as star wars, the avengers, etc… no collection information seems to have been pulled… again, is this a potential issue, or is it part of the WIP?
[ignore this paragraph, as pointed out below, this is not expected to work at the moment]
The “related movies” information seems to be all good as well.
Is there anything else that you need looking at? I can provide log files, etc if necessary… if not I will bin off and go to the previous installed version ready for the next build
Edit: added the movie folder structure info, and the fact that I have acknowledged that the auto-collections are a WIP.
@Adict, They say in the announcement/first post that collections aren’t working yet.
Agreed on cast info & photos, and generally better cast photos than before, IMO.
I am also seeing the problem with trailer playback and that transcoding error message.
Ah, sorry, I missed that
OK… I will leave it for the next build then… hopefully fixed in that
all in all though, it is looking great… and if this can be done with the TV libraries, that will be awesome
Would this be a good extension because nobody replied to this post . I would like to have an actor specific page like the artist page in the music libraries.
I Think that maybe the reason why no one replied to the post was the way that it was worded as not being a specific question related to the improvements in this preview release (ie, not anything to do with the new movie agent).
As for seeing actor details so you can see what movies and tv shows they have been in, that would be good… I am forver seeing an actor (or actress!) in a movie and trying to remember which TV series I have seen them in… so this would be nice to see. Maybe when the new movie agent is up and running, and it is also rolled out to the TV shows, it might be possible?
As for the actor images… they are working… in the preview there are a lot more images for the cast in the movie… so I am not sure what you mean by actor-specific images. Have you tried the preview to see how much difference there is? Not 100% sure where the images are coming from, but this is for movies only, so is probably from imdb or from tmdb or somewhere… but wouldn’t be from tvdb.
Anyway, yes, a thumbs up from me for seeing the movie and tv that actors have been in, that would be a bonus
There’s a feature suggestion for that – not part of the agent preview
The way actor pictures work for the moment is that every time a new movie is added (or when you refresh the metadata from a movie or even from a tv show) the link to the image for that actor is changed in each Info.xml file in which he/she played. The problem with this is when you have multiple libraries who use different movie agents (who don’t get their images from the same source) it can result in bad pictures for the actors like in the picture above were the picture of Pedro Pascal has been overwritten. I know there is already a thread for this but I thought it might be a easier to fix now. If it works this way (correct me if it doesn’t) wouldn’t it be easy to just disable this because each movie already has a link for the picture of each actor.

And the tvdb also supports movies for example Aquaman has actor specific images, you can see that Jason Momoa has a picture for his charachter in Aquaman
So I fired up a test server on a seperate machine from my normal Plex server.
Version installed 1.19.5.2916
I’m not getting any actor thumbnails at all. I also had this problem with the latest PMS beta 1.19.4.2935, although not to the same severity, only some were missing.
maybe TMDB are having issues… is there anything in the log files?.. or if you hit “refresh metadata” and then go to the console, can you see any errors there?
Hmm, is this from a web browser?
Can you tell me what your setting is for Settings → Plex Web → Quality → Internet Streaming?
If it’s set really low, try bumping it up and see if that helps.
General question
If this scanner is pulling new info together in one better source, where do we go to “fix” data? IMDB? TheTVDB? TMDB?, etc.? Also, if it is one of those, how often is the data refreshed? I know TV isn’t there yet, but, if I add an episode description, how soon would I expect to be able to refresh metadata and get the correct info?
Thanks
I think I found a bug, when you use multi-version movies the local metadata isn’t used and splitting them apart does not change anything. The deleted scene and the poster were both ignored when I refreshed the metadata.
Hello, I’m sorry for the fact that I’m using the translator, but come on … some films he recognizes the title in PORTUGUESE, but everything else is in English.
It says so somewhere right at the beginning of this thread: the agent does not yet pull fully localized metadata… that part is still being prepared.
I had missed that part too when running my first test
Thanks, great find! Will get this fixed.
We’re currently working on this - we should have news on this some time soon.
Sorry to be a pain but I have to ask this again
I have to filter by unmatched movies in the library and
- click a movie thats not matched
- click match
- click the only entry thats in the list
- click back
and repeat 800 times for every movie? Is there really no other way?
Please let me know if you need another log or anything else.
Thanks!
I responed to your DM a few days ago - your logs show issues with severe database slowdown which is abnormal and likely having many knock-on effects. Sorting that out will likely solve a lot of other issues.
