They are not in the beta Plex Media Server - #405 by drzoidberg33 or will they be back for stable release?
They’ll be back at some point yes, we just didn’t have time to get this in before the beta.
So there is no upgrade “option” for this like there was for the movie agent, correct?
We just go in and change the agent to Plex TV Series (BETA) for the library under Edit → Advanced?
Do we have worry about any current metadata getting modified when we do a full scan or even a refresh metadata at the show level after changing the agent?
Thanks and looking forward to eventually changing over to this one (just not sure how quickly I want to do that yet ).

Two of my shows kept their TVDB (DVD) order preference despite setting the library default to TheMovieDB. Any artwork I uploaded myself definitely stayed and not as many other series artwork changed as much as I expected but any reference data that wasn’t already locked did update. For me, with a relatively small library, it was a pretty fast scan and not very disruptive.
For now yes. The “Upgrade Matching” option will be added once the agent is out of beta. You’d be surprised how many people click on things without knowing what it does
However changing it manually under Advanced is exactly the same thing, just be sure to use the Agent dropdown (and not the scanner one).
I will second this as a potential issue. Had a drive lockup during a backup due to phototranscoder having 800+ GB of files in it. Never seen this issue before that bad, I nuked it 3 days ago and just checked and its back to 58 GB.
@Insomnic_1 Thanks for info. I have almost 750 TV series totaling almost 36,700 episodes, so a decent sized library. I’d most likely keep TheTVDB as the default so I’m guessing I should be pretty good in regards to data changing. I appreciate the response though.
@drzoidberg33 Thanks for the response about the upgrade option. And I work in IT also, so I am actually not surprised about how many people click on things without knowing what it does lol.
After a comment I saw, I went and changed the agent (as a test) and noticed that it made everything else change, so that was a good comment to have seen, plus your comment.
Again, thanks for the replies, appreciate it.

Thx for your feedback. Just nuke and back to 1,4 GB :D.
I’m getting incorrect posters for naked and affraid, I only have seasons 10-12 and all episodes appear to be affected
I’m having an issue where the season’s year does not get matched correctly.
It is correctly identifying as season 13 episode 3, however its showing metadata from season 12 episode 3.
Is there any way of getting Recorded TV programmes to not use the images that it grabs from the EPG but instead use the information the Plex scanner and agent grab themselves? None of my recorded shows seems to grab this information unless I manually “Fix Match” even after a week or so of it sitting in the library.
Episode images? If so we’re tracking that issue already.
How is this episode named (including the parent paths)?
This is intentional, we don’t overwrite EPG metadata because a lot of the time that metadata isn’t available through the normal sources (e.g. TVDB, TMDB).
Plus, sometimes the EPG and the other sources disagree on episode and season numbers etc.
Ah that’s a shame. Even if it was just the Posters as the information on TVDB or TMDB has a better poster than the one grabbed from the EPG. Out of interest, where does the EPG grab it’s poster information?
Hey, the episode is located at “X:\Shows\WWE SmackDown (1999)\Season 13\WWE SmackDown (1999) - S13E03 - SmackDown 596 [HDTV-1080p][8bit][x264][AAC 2.0].mkv”
I currently only have episodes from 2011 (aka season 13), but they all have metadata from season 12, even though they are correctly categorized in Plex as season 13.
Looks fine here:
Are you sure you’re using the TMDB ordering and that you don’t have any embedded metadata (check that “Prefer local metadata” is disabled).

This is intentional, we don’t overwrite EPG metadata because a lot of the time that metadata isn’t available through the normal sources (e.g. TVDB, TMDB).
Then why do I get English TV show descriptions in my German EPG-based library for some of my recorded libraries - while the episode descriptions stay German.
