Yep, I think the year is just confusing the matcher as it’s trying to find a match for that year.
Those are Audience Ratings. We don’t actually have any source for Critic Ratings for TV at the moment.
Looks like the wrong year, should be 2011: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/37606-the-amazing-world-of-gumball Try fix that and see if it helps.
Changed it to 2011, did the PlexDance, and after rescanning it turned out just fine.
Question though (probably not the right place, just more of a curiosity): TheTVDB is showing a special for it airing in 2008 (hence why my files were tagged with that year). I’ve been using TheTVDB data for tagging television shows. I’m guessing I should be using TheMovieDB?
South Park gets searched with 1992 and not matched
Its 1994
Specials is from 1992
The bug with the tvdb id matching was deployed earlier today. Your shows should match much better now ![]()
Episodes now have translations from TMDB. Work is still ongoing adding localization from other sources.
This is so much better!
I’m still scanning but so far only 12 out of 800 series are unmatched. And I’m sure for those 12 the naming is crap ![]()
Thanks!
Edit: after 35h the scan is finished (metadata still processing). It left me with only 4 unmatched items. All of them where named so bad that i removed them ![]()
The translation of ‘&’ seems to be a problem for some series. For example, in the Swedish description for Byhåla the text contains multiple ‘&’ and in Plex it gets formated wrong.
Also, which one of TVDB or TMDB take president over the other when the series exist in both places? Does Plex staff go through every entry and choose the best one? Uploading artwork from both places is easier since then the user can choose, but text is more difficult.
In another thread @adriana told me that it wouldn’t matter which one I made changes in/additions to. But lets say that the description I get from the Plex TV Series agent is wrong/badly written, where should I correct this? Do I then first need to figure out the correct source that the PTVS agent have fetched the data from and do the correction there?
Since you’ll be fetching from multiple databases the path to make corrections isn’t that clear. Sure I could correct it in PMS but then it is still not correct for the next guy. Since the current fetching of metadata from TVDB in Norwegian is broken I can’t really choose that option if the PTVS agent is incorrect either.
Edit: Also, what should we do if we find a series that the PTVS agent has fetched data from lets say IMDB and the data is not good, missing artwork etc. I know this series has good data on TVDB (maybe I put it there myself…
). Will there be a support ticket system for this or how will Plex go about it? In this case it’s the Norwegian series “Exit Nordpolen”.
Excellent. Do let me know if you think some of those unmatched ones should realistically match.
Any news on the mismatches I reported previously ? Might give the build another spin this week at some point but would like to do after any back-end work is complete to fix mismatches.
ur arcade removed the preview last night, thank you.
im out of testing now, do it urself.
Do we have an ETA of when this may arrive on the DSM7 version on Synology?
The issue with the & characters is something that should get fixed on the web client, Android and iOS handle these fine, I’ll open an issue for this.
As for the metadata questions I leave those to Adriana as she’s more qualified to answer them right now.
This is a completely separate build and I believe the arcade release had a higher version number so it would have upgraded.
I’m working on getting a new build out with some extras goodies but thanks for the testing you’ve done so far, it’s really apprecaited
Sorry haven’t had time to repro those yet, I’ll try to get to that this week. On my radar.
With the new update for the mac and windows player the cast at episode level is not available anymore.
Yes, the new versions of the web client don’t have support for it. It’ll be added back at some point though.
@alexandre @drzoidberg33 PMP still has it due to the fact its not had an updates in a long time

Running Version 1.21.2.3925-f189f701con macOS 10.15.7
It scanned the directory /Bjørnøya (2014) and came up empty. Tried fix match and nothing on PTVS but found the english entry from TVDB translated “Bear Island” (it doesn’t find Norwegian at all). Clicked on it but it instead loaded some Bear Grylls series that I don’t even have in my library.

Tried removing the match but same procedure again. The series doesn’t exist on TMDB.
In general when I try to fetch data from TVDB instead of PTVS it doesn’t work at all and either give me some random other series or doesn’t load at all. TVDB connection broken?
