New Plex Movie Agent Not Finding Local Extras

Server Version#: 1.20.0.3181
Player Version#: Web 4.39.1

Hi, since updating the movie library to use the new Plex Movie Metadata agent, if I add a new movie where I have local extras in the same folder, Plex is no longer recognizing any local extras.

For example, let’s take Spectre (2015):

Pathway:

Movies/Spectre (2015)/Spectre (2015) - 1080p.mkv
Movies/Spectre (2015)/Spectre Trailers-trailer.mkv
Movies/Spectre (2015)/Music Video-featurette.mkv

Only Spectre itself is located. Plex will still pull the usual Plex Pass online extras fine, but Spectre Trailers and Music Video are not recognized.

For now you’ll need to “Refresh Metadata” when adding new extras and subtitles. This will be resolved in an upcoming release.

Thank you.

I’m also noticing that if I add a second copy of a movie in the same location (ie a 1080p vs 720p version in the same directory) the new agent adds a second entry in Plex rather then automatically merging them into the same entry with two versions.

That’s definitely strange behaviour - how are the two files named?

Yes, for Spectre:

Spectre (2015) - 1080.mkv
Spectre (2015) - 720.mkv

The 1080p version showed as a separate entry when i processed it with the new metadata agent, when I reverted to the original agent and rescanned it was added as a second file for the original entry.

After playing around somewhat, it looks like I had to manually refresh the metadata on the old file for it to merge with the second.

This occurred with a few more films, Flash Gordon and Total Recall, and if the films were matched originally with the original agent, and I added a new resolution file (ie 720->1080), refreshing the library would add the new resolution file as a second entry. However, if I manually refresh the data on the original entry, they then automatically merge.

This is also happening in Windows. Its made plex next to useless for new content. Refreshing metadata doesn’t work. Nothing does. Please fix asap.

Am explanation of your exact issue (e.g. filenames, etc) would help, along with the logs. I’m not aware of any issues that would cause this currently.

Just as described - the entire topic of this thread describes the problem. Since the new plex movie agent started working it doesn’t pick up any local extras. Yes I know how to name them. No it’s not just me.

Nothing suggested to remedy the problem works. The content will suggest a title, you click it, it appropriately applies the meta data to the movie, but the extras content disappears. Also interestingly if you try to scan manually, the agent will assume its in a language other than English and a different language every time, it’ll assume the year of the content is 2020 every time. The legacy agent does not work when selected.

The entire library function is useless if it can’t pick up the extras on my hard drive and also yes it now creates two entries for identical titles instead of merging them.

This is a mac thread I happened to come across with those symptoms, but I’m running windows.

I hope this gets resolved quickly -
