Love the ability in the new Desktop AF to download for offline usage. I’ve had to run a separate server on my laptop to use Plex in the past on planes etc.
However, I’ve been through all the settings 3 times and can’t find how to change the quality or the location - is this possible? It’s a standard feature on the iOS app (both old Sync and the new UNO beta), you click Download and then select Video Quality.
It’s a great new feature but not if it only downloads full versions to the main 128GB drive instead of an external HDD
Seems like a massive oversight as it’s aimed at laptops and most people aren’t running around with 1TB SSDs - especially since it’s been a Sync function for years.
I have also looked through all settings to find where to define the file location and download size. I will have a lonely 1tb external hard drive and a C: drive that is to full to use for its intended purpose of actual work. I assumed I just was missing it somewhere. As well I only want the download to run when I manually request it. (un-check sync when items are ready and sync when app opens) I don’t want to be downloading large amounts of media while I am at work but have it queued up for when I am on my home network. This would kill my data cap.
It might be best to keep the Metro app available until then. Fortunately it looks like it is still working on my tablet, but if anything happens to it I won’t be able to reinstall it.
It isn’t uncommon for tablets and laptops to not have much more storage than a phone. Being able to transcode 30GB 4k video files is a pretty essential function for offline sync.
I also note that the new download function doesn’t seem to be available on folders. The sync function did work on folders.
