About a month ago I did a Win 11 reset on my machine. Since then, everytime I reboot, I get a new Plex server instance started. Both the old and the new server have the same name, but the old server is no longer available, and I have to manually delete it, and then repin my libraries to my Home. Also when this happens, all collections are reset. It’s really a pain. Might anyone have any idea why this is happening? I have PMS set to start at login, just like I used to before the reset. All was fine then. Not so much now.
When you launch Plex are you running it as admin or as a regular user?
Admin, just like before the reset.
Thats your problem, you shouldnt Run As Administrator when launching plex. I just have it running regularly and dont have issues. I suspect its some kind of registry/file permissions issue.
I don’t run as administrator, but the account running it is an admin account.
Can we get a copy of the server logs then? they may provide some insight
Sure. Where do I find them?
See the yellow line to server logs
I think the issue might be that two different users on the machine were starting servers. Could that cause it?
YES .
This is a typical use case where running PMS as a Windows service makes much more sense.
