Which episode ordering do you have set? And please provide some examples of exactly which episodes these are.
I did a refresh of âThe 100â show and now I only have one image for the actors Paige Turco. I will do a complete refresh of the TV shows using English as the language for the server and English (Australia) for the TV agent (which was the default one).
Please make sure youâve refreshed âThe 100â right before grabbing any logs though.
Iâll leave it a few days to make sure that it has finished updatingâŠ
I just had a thought. Is it possible that the new Plex TV agent is reading the local metadata even though it is not ticked. I was wondering because BigWheel looked at my logs a week or so ago and he said he could not understand why the actors images links were in the logs.
Just loaded âThe 100â again without any internal metadata and all the actor images appeared, so it has something to do with the new Plex TV agent reading the local data even though it is not selected. Hope that helps you sort the problem out with the agent. Would you mind passing it on to BigWheel as well please.
Saw the message about the new beta of the server. I will try that. Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it.
After the server update this morning, still the same problem after I refresh. If the tv shows have the metadata, it removes all the actor images. If I remove all the metadata from the file, all the actor images are restored.
I think I may have a clue on whatâs going on here. Iâll look into this and get back to you.
Thanks
When I think about it⊠it may be a general problem as everytime I go into a movie or TV show the page refreshes and sometimes I loose some actors images then or sometimes, gain one or two.
Yep, itâs what I suspected.
Whatâs happening here is the episode files have embedded metadata for the actors but the data from the agent doesnât so we end up saving these which overwrites the data for the show too (as the actor names match). The issue is that embedded metadata doesnât have any thumbnails so thatâs why they get blanked out.
The âPrefer local metadataâ option doesnât have an effect here because even if itâs disabled weâll still use the embedded metadata if there is nothing else for these tags.
Iâve submitted a fix for this that should prevent the images getting wiped, it will be in a future release at some point.
Thanks, since I have started to remove all metadata from the files, the TV Shows and Movies are loading a lot faster and the images stay stable when I re-open a Movie etc. I appreciate all your help and hope that I have helped you solve problems that other people may have.
how did you remove the meta data, because as of right now my tv show actors have no images. Did that make the images come back? Right now for example Tina Fey shows up as TF
I have a Mac, so I used free free app called Subler (https://subler.org). It only does mp4 and m4v formats. You need one that does batch changing otherwise you have to do each one individually. I found this (Subler Alternatives for Windows | AlternativeTo) which are supposed to be Windows alternatives. On Subler (if you have a Mac) got the File/Open Queue then click on the 3 dots (top right) and tick âClear existing metadataâ. Then go to advanced settings and untick an convert settings (unless you want to change them). I did 50,000 movies/tv showsis 3 days.
Have found a fault with the new TV Shows agent. Now that I have taken out all the metadata from the file, the Plex agent does not recognise multipart episodes. In other words if the have a tv show that has this âxxxxxxx - S01E01-E03â the agent does not recognise any of the episodes as far as the info screen for each episode go, it just leaves them blank.
This should work just fine. I have a few episodes in my own library like this and they all work as expected.
If you could give me some exact steps on how to reproduce this issue I can see if there is anything I can find.
Just came accross this post as I was having the same issue with missing cast pictures. Writing this to confirm that the issue is indeed having cast info in the local file. If I clear the cast info in the MP4 meta data and refresh in plex all the cast pictures show up. As and FYI if you still want to use subler for renaming files and adding meta data you can remove cast info in the setup.
Yea, it was from me lol.
My bad, it was just one show (pretty obscure) that the TV show database probably does not have all the eps for, all the other ones are working ok.
