I find the new UI landing page which shows movies and the like that can be streamed from Plex moderately interesting. However, I liked the original format that showed my native content more. I find it a little annoying to have to always browse down to my server, then browse each individual library instead of having a convenient page that includes all the libraries I’ve selected and summarizes most recently added files, etc. as well as the continue watching bar. Is there any way to get that back as the default landing page? I’ve tried disabling the automatic management, but I don’t think that’s the option I want, since that doesn’t seem to bring the original page back and there’s still a page that looks exactly like what was present before.
It would also be nice if we could configure/customize the landing page with objects of our choice. For instance, I’d like the page to have most recently added movies on the top, then continue watching, and remove most recently added files, and add the streaming service at the bottom, for instance. If this can already be done, I apologize, but I didn’t notice the ability to do so. At least on my Samsung TV. Haven’t checked PC.
I don’t know about the Samsung TV app, but the web app and Android TV app can be customized pretty well. If it isn’t in the Samsung app, I presume it will be at some point.
Yeah, well, it used to be. Kinda not with the most recent UI released. I mean, I get wanting to push the streaming service, but it feels a little overzealous.
Yep, I am familiar with that. I kind of forgot about that until after I posted this.
In any case, now the menu has the extra step of requiring you to turn off automatic management of the home screen. Then click Edit Home Screen. HOWEVER, if you go further in where you can manage hubs, the only options you can interact with are the new items. I see, “Continue Watching”, “Most Popular”, “Only on Plex for a Limited Time”, and “Plex Picks”… From the first screen, I can remove them from the home screen. If I go one more level in and click edit list order, I can move those four items around, but the rest of the libraries are nowhere to be seen, and thus I cannot add (or remove) them from the home screen. This is my major issue with the current state of the home screen options.
Oh, also, the Home Screen on app.plex.tv is in the format I want still. Basically all the old stuff with the new streaming categories tacked on down at the bottom.
