Will Plex ever give us the option to customize the Home Screen (Dashboard)?

I would love to see options for customizing your home screen or instead of showing just the most recently added videos, choose which genres you want to display by default and have it show the recently added per genre. That way your quick overview (Discover View) isn’t biased to the latest movies overall but gives you a quick look at a variety of movies. (Kinda like Netflix’s home screen)

I wouldn’t hold breath. In the light of recent changes to web app seems like they want to unify the look across all platforms and no one really cares about user opinion. I don’t like to have recently added movies, tv shows, photos rotating based on what was recently added, I’ve asked for anchor option.

It is one of the many feature requests that are logged and will be considered at some point. We know there are lots of things users might like on home and discovery screens like playlists and favorites. I can’t make any promises about when it might be done.

Anywhere where we can “vote” on this, to show added support?

Or better yet, is there anywhere where we can just change what the default page is when the client is opened? (not sure if this is controlled by the client-side or the server)

In particular, 99.9% of the time I go directly to TV Shows → Unwatched. Be nice if the app would just open to a place that the USER wants – not that coders/marketers/whatever at Plex want.

Don’t use music. Have only a few movies. Have a custom video section, but don’t really access it. In any case, I don’t mind a few more clicks if I ever want to bother with anything else, but have my 99.9% of my usage be treated as if… well… it is the thing I use the most.

Especially when you move content from one folder to another. Shows a new content. Also didn’t like the new sign in I saw on the server. Had sign in as google, facebook, or my email. Not my user

Don’t bother - those ‘Feature Requests’ are at least 2.5 Years Old and have been ignored since the day this flock of turkeys landed. Empty promises from Plex = user suffering at extreme levels.

No, Plex has a designated route through this hazard to navigation - it’s the Plex way, or the Highway. They’re going to ram those discovery hubs up your nose and there isn’t a dam thing you can do about it.

50 clicks to nowhere. Have extra batteries on hand - you’ll need them.

If it’s clicks you want - you’ll be a happy camper. Clicks are available in abundance. If Plex can design a way to use 15 clicks when 2 would do - 15 it is. They have to show as much of this maze they constructed for your media as possible. They’re proud of it. They want you to see all of everything they do.

Welcome to the forum.

Indeed it does.

That’s why it’s important to AVOID moving material, but COPY it first. I think this pretty much sums it up:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201154537-Move-Media-Content-to-a-New-Location

Disclaimer:
I have had this work as advertised.
I have also had it fail miserably.
YMMV, but it seems to work more often than it fails.

You can remove recently added items from your home screen by editing the library.
Go to the library and select ‘…’
Select ‘Edit’
Go to ‘Advanced’
Uncheck the box for ‘Include in Dashboard’

Hope this helps

Settings, Server, Library - uncheck Empty Trash Automatically.

What (I think) is happening is that Plex removes the title before it adds it again when scanning (on a lot of occasions). Unchecking this stops it from removing altogether. Downside - you’ll have to empty trash after a scan where you’ve moved something, otherwise your server will list two copies of the same title, one of which is unavailable. Upside - it’s stays in the same place on the date added list.
