New Samsung Tizen App Preview

Thanks sLumpy that fixed the pixelation on text problem; however, it is still a blur on highlighted item (currently selected item).

Perfect! Thank you so much! The Summary and the Subtitles are fixed., but The Item selection (3 points “More” button) and the Exit selection have pixels.

Hello, Hobart Tasmania, Australia time zone. I am using my AppleTV plex app as a work around at present and monitoring the Samsung app for updates and hope the issue resolves it self.

@ParadiseLost13 @dr_raymond27 mind posting a picture of those screens?

@sLumpy
OK, I think that you already fixed in the moment that I take the picture.

and a few minutes later look lik this

OK, I restart the app, and now look like the first pictures (like Stargirl picture), is unstable, but is getting better the pixels is gone, that’s good.

It seems like it works great then stops and looks like the picture.

@sLumpy Operator error on my part. I was looking in the wrong place for the Disable Early Access switch.

I noticed that it’s no longer possible to Shuffle Play a series. If I choose a specific season, the Shuffle Play option is available under MORE along with options for subtitles and settings. But clicking MORE under series overview only gives option More Info.

With long running sitcoms I’ve seen before, I often let Plex just randomly play episodes, and I can do it on other Plex platforms, but it’s been removed here for some reason.

This project gives me hope. Features like TV Guide for DVR is crucial! Thank you.

I do have a couple of issues however.

Issue1:

  • Like the others mentioned, the app is only recognising my TV to be 1080p.
  • I have a 4k TV.

Issue 2:

  • HD channels on Live DVR are low resolution (480i).
  • I do not see visual differences when flicking between SD and HD channels.
  • I also have a Roku device and HD channels on Plex are coming up crystal clear.

Setup:

This has been gone over several times. Its only the app interface that runs in 1080p.

there are a lot of msgs and it’s hard to go through them all.

I can deal with the 1080p UI however I still have an issue where my DVR content is running in very low res. I can’t watch HD channels in 720p - it comes out in 480. I don’t have this problem using Roku.

Its all good, I wasn’t having a go. I agree this thread is pretty busy, and I’m not a huge fan of the forums software. Its not as easy to navigate as something like Xenforo for example.

All good… Thanks for responding.

Interesting DVR content is playing HD channels at 480i but my old 1080i recordings play at 1080i. I think it has something to do with how I loaded my xmltv (I had to load the XML manually because Plex server didn’t have one for Australia). This isn’t a problem for Roku however…

Edit: I went back to the old Plex on Samsung and I couldn’t figure out a way to enable HD content. I think it has always presented DVR content in standard definition.

Exactly, same here

OK, I know that in a few days the blurred highlights will be fixed, now I use the beta version as daily version. I have some point that make me better.

  • I like the new Burn Subtitles option, the only thing is if you can make it a little bit bigger.

  • In the Movies Info view, the audio track not show the language, only in subtitles.

  • The “Other Videos” collection posters are horizontal, look great, but in Library the items are vertical, Do you can put all “Other Videos” views (Library, Collections, Playlist) Horizontal. I use that section for Music Videos that normally haven’t posters, and for me look well horizontal. (I want a metadata for MV, T_T)

  • In Info view, The Cast and "More of X Actor"change the order (First Cast, then “More of…”)

  • The TV Shows not change to next episode automatically when a previous ends, only for some TV Shows.

  • The Photos section is GREAT, is faster as the previous version and don’t freezes the app.

  • When I Resume, the video stay in Buffering, and then say Error of Transcoding.

  • The Collections haven’t background image

OK, is all for now

Hi,

I’ve been using the preview app on my 2018 and 2019 TV’s for a month or so now and it’s been absolutely great and removed any buffering i previously got with high bitrate files.

However… in the last day (at least i only noticed it from yesterday evening), the app seems sluggish to load in thumbnails of my movies, and films have started buffering again.

This only happens on my Samsung TV’s and not other plex client around the house.

Can you confirm if there has been an update to the preview app in the last few days, and if this may have caused any new slow playback / slow UI / slow thumbnail loading etc.

thank you

Q85R - 1356.2 - Tizen 5.0 - Plex 5.0.12

Many thanks for the update. The EPG is particularly well implemented, excellent. A few points:

A minor annoyance is the need to click through for ‘more information’; this was much better with a dedicated button.

I can’t seem to find the ‘DVR Schedule’ information available in the old version. Is this yet to be implemented or am I missing something?

It does not seem to be possible to record a programme currently being transmitted, (that has already started).

Recording radio stations does not work. They seem to be scheduled normally and appear as recorded, but the files are empty. Edit: I have now recorded several radio programmes successfully, after power cycling the TV. So possibly a local problem?

Hello Plex,

Very good job on the new Early Access Samsung (Tizen) TV App.
Menu and playback is very smooth. Handling 1080p and 4K splendid. Also very nice job on the subtitle finder.

One thing which is super annoying though is espesccialy when watching series (bing watching).
The app fails to recognize/remember your default/prefered subtitle language, so I’ll have to set it at every new episode.

This ofc. also goes for movies and so.

Could you take a glance at this?

How can I use skip intro? I don’t see it on any show.

EDIT: I see is a Plex pass feature, never mind.
