@alexhollister1978_gmail_com HDR should be working. Playing a handful of HDR videos on my devices seem to play back in HDR (unless I’ve got terrible eyes and can’t tell the difference). What model TV and can you post logs or samples?
TV model is SAMSUNG MU7000.
Here is a comparison using Early Man that is indicated as HDR on both the TV app and comes up in an HDR search on the Plex Android app.
Now, given that part of HDR is the rich vibrant color, compare the two.
The Plex version is so not HDR, it’s borderline monochrome by comparison. A little off maybe could be attributed to compression or lower quality HDR, but there’s just no way this is outputting as HDR. Great 4K perhaps. But not HDR.
Which would explain why the TV picture mode is not recognising it as such.
I concur that HDR is not actually playing HDR on this new version. But then again, it never really has with Plex, even with Direct Play. It’s always looked dark and washed out.
Alexa Plex integration is still not working. The old version of the app was recognised by the Alexa app as a ‘Player’ but content did not play successfully. The new version is not recognised as a player in response to a ‘select player’ request to the Alexa app.
The new app is however recognised as a player by other clients so I can eg select it as a player from my Mac Plex client and it works OK.
The Alexa Plex app can recognise a Roku stick as a player and (usually) successfully change to the Roku and play content.
Samsung UN55NU6900
Tizen Version 4.0
Both versions 4.26.9 and 5.0.12
All content crashing after trying direct play direct stream and transcode
doesn’t matter what file type all h.264 doesn’t matter what bitrate unknown error(0) avplay. wtf.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, updating PMS. Uninstalling, reinstalling, updating Plex for samsung. All media works on other devices just not samsung TV.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-07-18_21-01-54.zip (5.5 MB)
Really happy with this version. Only 2 issues for me. No TV themes is a bummer hoping this gets added and when I open a TV show it doesn’t take me to the next episode to watch it’s always at episode 1.
The Roku App under Settings, Video has an option to support MPEG2 for Live TV. This helps avoid transcoding and a smooth experience on LAN. Would the Tizen App ever be able to support (hardware wise) this option and if so any plans to add it?
So not sure if this is the Samsung plex app issue or plex in general. I see this error on the mac desktop app and on the samsung app. In Live TV, when i go into the “browse” section I get plex media unavailable (on samsung app) and “we can’t find the page you are looking for” on the desktop app, even though the “whats on” and “guide” works. Does anyone else have the same issue?
Hopefully while we’re testing in this preview and making suggestions and modifications Plex will consider adding paging commands for live tv and libraries with a long list of files/folders. Arrowing down through long lists of movies and channels can be tedious and wear down remote batteries…
When playing music, at some point my screen goes black and the visuals don’t return until I’ve restarted the app; this is with the screensaver disabled. If I’ve got the screensaver enabled, and active, the same thing happens, except the screen won’t go black until I exit the screensaver.
