New Samsung Tizen App Preview

@alexhollister1978_gmail_com HDR should be working. Playing a handful of HDR videos on my devices seem to play back in HDR (unless I’ve got terrible eyes and can’t tell the difference). What model TV and can you post logs or samples?

TV model is SAMSUNG MU7000.

Here is a comparison using Early Man that is indicated as HDR on both the TV app and comes up in an HDR search on the Plex Android app.

First, Early Man on Samsung Tizen App.

Note, in the next photo, anything true HDR is indicated in that first Picture Mode icon. There’s no mention of HDR anywhere.

And now actual HDR.

And note, the HDR indicator in the Picture Mode icon.

Now, given that part of HDR is the rich vibrant color, compare the two.

The Plex version is so not HDR, it’s borderline monochrome by comparison. A little off maybe could be attributed to compression or lower quality HDR, but there’s just no way this is outputting as HDR. Great 4K perhaps. But not HDR.

Which would explain why the TV picture mode is not recognising it as such.

Is possible add a Shuffle button in the collection view? Please, and sorry for being annoying,

“Resume From” is not working, it just starts the preroll and the movie al over again..

Client version: 5.0.12
Platform Verion: 4

I concur that HDR is not actually playing HDR on this new version. But then again, it never really has with Plex, even with Direct Play. It’s always looked dark and washed out.

The new app does not allow me to Sign Out.

Alexa Plex integration is still not working. The old version of the app was recognised by the Alexa app as a ‘Player’ but content did not play successfully. The new version is not recognised as a player in response to a ‘select player’ request to the Alexa app.

The new app is however recognised as a player by other clients so I can eg select it as a player from my Mac Plex client and it works OK.

The Alexa Plex app can recognise a Roku stick as a player and (usually) successfully change to the Roku and play content.

So it’s a bit of a puzzle.

When playing music would like to see the following… as what is in the other platform clients

  1. Let us know how far into the song it is. Either timing or progress bar

  2. Dont time out to wallpaper. Roku i think gove you a bouncy album cover with progress bar

All content crashing after trying direct play direct stream and transcode
doesn’t matter what file type all h.264 doesn’t matter what bitrate unknown error(0) avplay. wtf.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, updating PMS. Uninstalling, reinstalling, updating Plex for samsung. All media works on other devices just not samsung TV.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-07-18_21-01-54.zip (5.5 MB)

Nevermind, I discovered where is the Shuffle switch, but when the videos playing, the names is not the same of the video.

And the pixels are came again, everywhere, but not in the subtitles.

Really happy with this version. Only 2 issues for me. No TV themes is a bummer hoping this gets added and when I open a TV show it doesn’t take me to the next episode to watch it’s always at episode 1.

Use Manage > Troubleshooting > Download logs option to grab the logs and upload here to help the Plex devs.

The Roku App under Settings, Video has an option to support MPEG2 for Live TV. This helps avoid transcoding and a smooth experience on LAN. Would the Tizen App ever be able to support (hardware wise) this option and if so any plans to add it?

I am finding that without this option selected, it is impossible for me to view Live TV with all the buffering although I do have a somewhat powerful CPU Where is the buffering coming from on Live TV (stored movies are fine)?

So not sure if this is the Samsung plex app issue or plex in general. I see this error on the mac desktop app and on the samsung app. In Live TV, when i go into the “browse” section I get plex media unavailable (on samsung app) and “we can’t find the page you are looking for” on the desktop app, even though the “whats on” and “guide” works. Does anyone else have the same issue?

Noticed that I can’t change the subtitles language.
Default is English, can’t change it from that.
TV Q70R with this 5.0.12 version.

The ability to re-order or remove categories on the Home tab is absent in the new version of the app.

I thought I attached it. Plex Media Server Logs_2020-07-18_21-01-54.zip (5.5 MB)

Hopefully while we’re testing in this preview and making suggestions and modifications Plex will consider adding paging commands for live tv and libraries with a long list of files/folders. Arrowing down through long lists of movies and channels can be tedious and wear down remote batteries…

Same, and buffering a lot, my connection is fine.

When playing music, at some point my screen goes black and the visuals don’t return until I’ve restarted the app; this is with the screensaver disabled. If I’ve got the screensaver enabled, and active, the same thing happens, except the screen won’t go black until I exit the screensaver.

Just a +1 for adding the end time of an episode that’s currently playing back in.

I didn’t realise how often I used it until it was gone.
