5.1.0 on a Samsung ru7100 TV causes buffering. Tried to play a 1080p video and buffered twice throughout the movie. Causes me to stop the video playing. Then wait a sec and then resume.
WiFi is perfect (unifi AP-HD in the same room). Tried eth cable and does the same thing. So I know its the app.
I miss the ability to adjust the aspect ratio/fill screen options to remove the black bars from either the sides or the top/bottom.
Plex on Android and Fire TV can do it and it is very useful. Is that planned?
Hello,
Thanks for upgrading Plex for Samsung in its new version, I really like it, but I have some issues I think many of users has mentioned it such as:
1- TV Music Theme is not playing and its option to enable/disable it from setting.
2- I don’t like that it shows the poster of the TV show as background in the pre-play screen. The old app had an option to disable this (by selecting “Blur”). The preview is missing that option in the new settings menu. Please bring it back.
3- The clock in my Plex Samsung TV doesn’t show the real time ; as it’s always appears +1 (i.e it appears 02 PM instead of the real time 01PM), this time issue is already existed in the old app and I hope you can fix it or advise with a solution for it.
Samsung TV Model: UA49KU7500RXEG
Plex Version: 5.1.0
Tizen Version: 2.4
No timer or progress bar to teel how far into a song it is.
After a few songs… screen saver kicks in showing movie art. On roku and others the screen saver for music is the album art. Please bring that to this version
All of my videos now buffer and halt in an unexpected playback error about 3-5 minutes before the end of the video. I’m forced to watch the ending of these on my phone. No buffering issues throughout the rest of the video. My server is local, running the latest Plex version on Windows 10 (2004).
Any chance we can get a completely-black screensaver? When I’m listening to music, I don’t want to be distracted by the screen at all.
I used to handle this by playing music, then opening an all-black photo, but the new version doesn’t let you play music and view photos at the same time. You can do something similar with the photo screensaver, but then you still have the clock / photo name / white fade on-screen.
With the new version or the old version, direct play movie jitters juste a bit. Enough to see that it is not fluid as it should be. Don’t see this on the Xbox one or Android client. If I force transcoding, the playback is fine.
OK, testing the 5.1.1. Version, good, but the Tizen 4 artifacting issue is there yet (I’ll be so happy the day that this issue disappear).
I don’t know if is something of video format but when you play Movies with burn subtitles, the subtitles are up of the bottom black line (in the video, looks good), but in TV shows are in the bottom black line.
Update: OK, the problem of the subtitles I solved, is for the video format, the TV shows are with the black lines, and the movies not.
Still continuing to have aspect ratio issues with certain films. Both my Samsung TU8000 and Q70t both having issues where the whole film is stretched to remove the black bars and force a 16:9 aspect ratio. These films work fine on every other app (e.g., Apple TV, IOS, Webplayer, etc.) This is an ongoing issue from the older Tizen app and still not fixed.
I just cannot believe it… On my QE55Q60R and UE43TU8002 just updated it to 5.1.1. And now it is even worse then before! Every movie is transcoded from DTS to AAC sound just like the videoformat. In the previous version (5.1.0) there was the direct play functionality and now it is seems to me that is gone.
Please go back to the previous version. It was waaaaaaaaaay better!
Still this issue on 5.1.1. Just left early access and tested on several videos. No issues. Back to early access and the buffering followed by the unexpected player error near the end of every video occurs again. Please fix.
I’m having an issue with subtitles, it seems is something wrong when render the subtitles. Sometimes it shows a wired image or some worries characters.
Kinda late to the party but here some things that I’ve noticed:
Subtitles: as many have said, they just look bad. Maybe it’s the shading, maybe the font. I like the old format better. Can we at least chose?
End time: the time the current playing video will end is no longer there. Yes, you see how much longer it has left, but you have to look at a watch to know when that will be. I really liked knowing when the movie or episode will end.
Screensaver: enabling pictures as screensaver is really nice and set it up immediately. The problem is that it also tries to load videos from a picture Library and they don’t work. I could understand them playing, maybe with no sound since it’s a screensaver, but now you just look at a black screen before the picture changes.
I really like the new interface, and also the fact that Plex is trying to make the experience as similar as possible on all it’s platforms. I think it will make things a lot easier for new and non-technical users.
Re: the end time of a video…I’m watching something right now that has a very bright sky in the top right corner and I can’t see the clock so I don’t know what time it will end. Please add it back
