New server, existing account

Server Version#: Dell PowerEdge R630
Player Version#:

I had my server on a shield pro with external drive
I bought a Dell server and run VMware esxi
I deleted the Plex media server off the shield
I moved the external drive to the Dell server
I started a windows VM on the Dell server and installed Plex media server

If I log into my old Plex pass account, I don’t get the install wizard to name my new server and map my libraries. The left hand bar does not have a “more” section that lists the new server.

If I make a new account I get that great wizard that lets me find my drive and add to library, but it’s not my Plex pass account.

What kind of Windows?
Home, Pro, Server, Datacenter, Headless?

If it’s a server edition, use this procedure to claim the newly setup server into your account: Plex install fix for Windows Server (Claim issue)

Thank you.
Windows 10 in a VM, do I still do this?

Also…
I deleted the shield file system off the external drive that contains my media
If I open a phone client, I can still see my old server, and the new server, but obviously cant edit the new server from a client

Try it. It should work.
Make sure that the server has a working internet connection that is not filtered by black lists, or ad blockers etc.

That wouldn’t have been necessary. There is no restriction on the number of servers you can have on one plex account.

You can remove old, defunct servers from your account here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms

Can’t seem to get this to work, I’m sorry.
Logged out of PMS
Deleted PMS
Reinstalled PMS but didn’t run it
Reg file merge was successful
Started PMS
Right clicked PMS tray icon to open Plex

It starts to go to 127.0.0.1:32400/web
Then goes to app.plex.tv for login
After sign in I’m back where I started. No servers in the left bar but there is a + your media that wants me to get PMS

Would it be better to create a Linux vm

Are there people at Plex that can just remove my old server from my account so I can claim the new one??

There is no need to remove the old server. You can claim more than one server.
If you want to do it anyway, I’ve given you the link already above.

I’m trying to claim the new server. I already deleted the old server. I can’t find where to claim the new one. Even after the regedit, when I sign in I am not seeing the new server or given the option to add libraries.
It sounds like what you are saying is that it’s not because Plex thinks the old server is still on my account.
If the answer is still above with the regedit I will keep trying.

The procedure to claim it is described in my first link above.

Ok I will keep trying the reg edit solution. Thank you.

It worked. I read farther down and had to go into registry editor and remove everything plex before reinstalling PMS and following your linked instructions. Thank you!
