Hello,
I’ve had a working and functional Plex Server running now for several years on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running Buster, but yesterday the SD card that manages the OS failed and I cannot recover the disk image so I’m forced to replace with a fresh install. Fortunately, I had followed instruction when setting up my PMS and moved the database over to the external 5TB drive I use to store the media library but I cannot locate the thread I used or ask Google the right question to find a similar topic.
My question to the forum is assuming I start fresh with a virgin Raspberry Pi OS and want to restore the PMS as it was pre-OS crash, is there a walkthrough that details how to install PMS on the new system but have it configured to look at the old configuration I had built? I’d ideally like for the server name, metadata, etc. to simply switch back on once I start the service on the new OS SD card,
I hope this makes sense and I’m not speaking in tongues trying to describe what I’m working towards.
Thank you @ChuckPa, I will research the thread you linked here. Most of what I found when searching was specific to Windows servers even if I put in Linux, but I think the keyword needed to differentiate was systemd in this case. What you provided looks to be the correct way to handle with my system-specific setup.
