New server version not recognizing external subs

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3021
Player Version#: 4.34.3

I installed yesterday the latest PMS version and it looks like it’s not recognizing external subs.

I have external subs for most of my movies: .srt - UTF-8 and never had a problem. I added a movie yesterday and Plex could only find the embedded .srt in the MKV. Not the external. So I pulled another movie which had external subs from the library, did the Plex Dance, moved the movie and the sub back and the external sub is not found.

The only solution I’ve found is to click on the dropdown arrow, then Upload… and choose the external sub.

Is local media assets enabled for the agent that you use for that library?

In Movies -> Personal Media and Movies -> The Movie Database but not in Movies -> Plex Movie

I haven’t changed this in years and until now never had a problem with external subs

Well which agent is actually being used for that library. Edit the individual libraries settings under advanced to see. Nothing has changed with that code in years.

The agent is Plex Movie.

So should I enable Local Media Assets (Movies) in this agent? And move it to the top?

It’s still puzzling that it worked fine with earlier versions of PMS

You don’t need to move it to the top. Just enable it. I would not move it to the top unless you are very sure that you don’t have files with embedded metadata that want to take precedence over online metadata

Perfect, thanks

There were a couple of movies where the external subs were not detected. Enabling the Local Media Assets and refreshing metadata worked fine

Many thanks again
