sweet

Netflix dynamically delivers Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio up to 640 kbps for sound quality that rivals professional recording studios.

Yeah, sure.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised to find that Plex has a huge update in this as well that was not mentioned in the release notes. They have added so much customization to the Home page you land on and the ‘Apps’ you use most often. For example, I have now customized the new side-bar navigation to contain Movies, TV Shows and Live TV/DVR. And then you can specify which rows of content from those apps now lives on your Home screen like Newly Added Movies, Whats on TV Right Now etc. And you can take it a step further since Plex will now remember how you last sorted or ordered your apps when you load them again. For example, when I go to my Movies, it can now directly launch into your Recommendations or go directly to your library with filters applied. Another example is that I can launch directly to the Guide when I navigate to Live TV/DVR

Overall, FANTASTIC update to Plex in this new Shield Experience 8.0 update (Android 9.0 Pie)

yeah thats the uno interface that has been available for awhile now

Does anyone know if the Plex client was updated with the NVidia Shield Android Pie update?

I know some people had problems with the 7.2+ update of the Shield Plex client and had to revert to the Plex client which originally came with the Nvidia Shield. I’m wondering if the Android Pie update has fixed this situation.

I’ve got issues again with this update. And pretty much every single update that has ever come out for plex. I have the 2015 nvidia shield if that matters. My server is not working at all. Only has a yellow exclamation mark triangle next to the server with nothing that I’m able to do to fix it.

This update killed remote access for me. Routing tables were set up perfectly before 8.0 update but now nothing works. I’ve reset the Shield three times now and nothing. Even reset the router. I think I’m moving to Emby to try that out now. Every update for this app just ruins Plex and I have to wait weeks for another update. I’m sick of it

edit: Jesus, after 4 days of this I finally found the issue and it turns out my ISP had turned the majority of its users over to something called CGNet in order to save IP addresses, essentially having about 4 users share one IP address so no ports could be forwarded. They took me off of this and my port opened up again. Apologies for the rant earlier but leaving this in case anyone else has this problem. This CGNet thing just happened to coincide with the 8.0 update

Is anyone running PMS on their Shield? Mine won’t start ever since it was updated to v8 Experience (on Android Pie/9). I posted a thread on the issue, a couple others said they’ve had the same issue, but no response from Plex.

@brigrigg
Yes PMS is still working fine for me after upgrade to Shield Experience 8.0 (Pie). I’m running a Shield Pro (SSD modified) if that makes a difference …

Hmmm. I know I’m not the only one with this issue, wondering what the differences are.

I’ve been away on business for almost 2 weeks and getting home late tonight. I’ll reboot the Shield tomorrow morning, although I’ve tried that numerous times already (as well as disconnect the external USB storage), and tried to manually start the server numerous times. I rather not uninstall and reinstall.

Nope, server still won’t start, even after a reboot.

Since Plex isn’t responding (unless my original post wasn’t in the correct forum), any other ideas? I really don’t want to have to reinstall the app. If so, I’ll backup my recordings (if I have free space somewhere).

Finally figured it out. I opened up Google Play on the Shield and despite it being set to auto update apps, it showed that there was a pending update to PMS. I updated it, PMS was still in a stopped state. I then tried to start it (as I had numerous times before), and miraculously it started!

Never had to do this before. So much for auto-update.
