Every time I open the Plex app on my Roku TV, i need to manually change the option in Settings-Subtitles-Roku Captions Mode from Off to On in order to view subtitles. Then next time I log in the same setting has reverted back to Off.
Is this setting controlled somewhere else? Any ideas why it’s defaulting back to Off?
It’s a Roku Thing - and the only thing you can do is adjust it on ‘the fly’.
When you change the state of the sub-titles - they are changed Roku Wide. You obviously are turning them off when doing other things and they’re off when you show up in Plex.
Hit the * button with an item ‘in flight’ and change the setting. It’s only slightly painful.
I actually set my Plex Account sub settings to ‘Always Enabled’ - then set the Roku to ‘On Replay’. At least that way the subs aren’t in my face when I don’t want them, but if I miss something I can back up to catch it - then maybe roll the * control to ‘Always on’ - but there it is… on - Roku Wide.
Note: ‘On Replay’ will turn the subs on when you back up to catch something - then they’ll fade out when you get back to where you were.
There’s really not a time when you don’t have to fiddle with the subs a little.
Thank Roku INC for this - Plex is really doing all they can - and there’s not much they can do.
