New to plex, question about adding a USB library on Nvidia Shield TV

So I’ve set up Plex as a server on my nvidia shield TV and that part went smooth. I don’t have a huge portable drive yet though I’m planning on getting a 1tb. But I decided to experiment a little. I have an 8gb mimobot usb drive. I used MakeMKV to rip one of my dvds and I put the movie folder inside my “Nvidia_Shield” folder on the mimobot USB thumb drive. The thumb drive is recognized by the shield.

My problem is that when I go to add a library it keeps spinning. Over an hour now. There’s only one movie on it. I do have the thumb drive plugged into the Shield while this is going on. Any suggestions?

I’m also getting this problem, any advice would be appreciated.

I think I’ve solved this issue.

  1. Change your shield language to English US.
  2. Open Storage and reset settings on shield and change ‘Transfer files over local network’ to on.
  3. Open plex on computer and claim server.
