I am unsure where Plex is collecting official feedback given the varying amount of posts, but I will add my thoughts again here.
I feel like the main app as it exists today is a great navigational experience and so far as I know, nobody is complaining about it. It’s well organized, click throughs for the most part make sense. I might could use some of the new version’s polish for image displays, but for the most part… it’s organized well and is intuitive to use.
The New Experience for Roku feels like a navigational downgrade. Horizontal menus on a horizontal interface take up too much space. Libraries are buried under extra clicks where they used to be listed in a row on the left in the order I preferred. If anything, you should be considering ways to maximize using the left side of the screen rather than putting the main clicks up top. It’s a waste of valuable real estate.
The more I contemplate having to eventually switch to this, the sicker I get about it. I really do enjoy Plex, and I use it A LOT. Using it should be a joy, and something you don’t have to think much about. I really don’t like something standing in the way of my watching experience, which it feels like this new experience is.
Take the current Nav, apply your back end code unifications, and enjoy a relatively complaint free rollout.
I don’t have much to say about playback experience. I select an item and it plays.
I hadn’t intended this to be an entirely new post. Just wanted to make sure that I was putting it in the right place, organized with other feedback. Most of this is stuff I’ve already said elsewhere.
The right place is the Preview experience category in with a Roku Preview tag like it says in the announcement. Which can see by simply filtering on those
I know folks like these mass feedback topics but honestly they tend be too disjointed to be useful since folks tend to talk over each other and reply to things 20 posts up and folks get confused/frustrated that their particular issue is not being commented on because it is in a sea of others. They generally just never end and are the opposite of “organized”.
Separate threads per feature/aspect is a whole lot better IMO. This one taking about navigation. I can then easily bring this up with others that work on navigation without having to sift through a bunch of other stuff to find related feedback.
Yeah i know. but it is helpful to know what folks are using as there are slight differences in some regards. ( just created a navigation tag that folks can filter on to find topics across platforms)
