We will be posting continuous updates.

Best way to give us feedback:

  • The version number of the app (found at the top right under Settings in the app)
  • What you were doing when the issue happened
  • Whether it’s reproducible
  • Bonus: Send us logs (support article here)
  • Bonus Bonus: Pics or videos
  • Extra bonus: If something is fixed, let us know in your topic—it helps us close the loop

Start a new topic in the “Plex Experience Preview” category—we’re monitoring closely and reaching out when we need more details. You can use roku-preview forum tag when posting questions or issues about our Preview.

You want to get on the Preview too? Here is how:

Add the channel to Roku here: Roku

If the channel doesn’t appear after adding on Roku’s website, you can force your Roku to update via the device menu: Settings → System → System update

We truly appreciate your help and feedback.

Missing (or I can’t find) the DVR Schedule in Live TV)

Library → Browse not “Sticky”, I aways have to re-select Browse (I don’t want Recommended as Default)

Never mind, Needed to re-set in settings

Is there a way to let it use previous selection or force it to Collections? This is almost a deal breaker for me since I have everything configured with Smart Collections for each type of media my family watches. It is a pain since every time I change Libraries I have to manually select Collections…

A Lot of space to the left of the Guide that only ahows Favorites and DVR, and (unless I haven’t found it) I see no way to combine my DVR Guide with Plex Channels in Favorites

We are keeping an eye on this thread and are already appreciating the feedback here!

Quick question, does the preview experience apply to Roku TV devices or just Roku sticks and the like?

It applies to all Roku devices.

Anyone should be able to get it - no differences between a tv vs a stick. I don’t know off the top of my head what our current list of supported Roku devices is, but it should be available on all currently supported devices. If the main app works then this preview app should work as well.

I would like this row be hidden on a details/movie/show page. And pressing up would bring it back.. like the way the library names disappear.

Plex TV Live Guide is not showing Date or Season

For Example Hot Ones only shows E1 (when it should show Season, Episode, Date and Rating (I.e. TV-MA)

Added in a separate thread but taking music and photos away from the Roku TV experience is a major downgrade in my opinion. Android TV will at least allow casting from Plexamp.

I’m hoping maybe Plexamp and Plex Photos will one day be able to cast to Roku.

Good point, The iOS/Android Apps have Plexamp and Plexphotos, so removing Music and Photos from Roku Plex does not make sense to me.

Fully agree - especially if you enjoyed reading the bio/album descriptions/lyrics as well as finding artists through “similar artists” etc
Casting to roku from plexamp is not really a solution as it also stops people in the same room from interacting with the media

The level of clicks I need to go through to access my media is increadible - I now need to:

  1. go up,
  2. right,
  3. click libraries,
  4. down again,
  5. click through the libraries options (1+ clicks at least)
  6. left again,
  7. select browse ,
  8. etc…
Compared to what was a reasonably smooth experience previously (click left, select library, and the I could browse on the last view I had, whether collection or library or recommended)

Isn’t this new experience unified across all platforms so all the feedback given previously still stands. I’m confused why yet another thread exists outside of the hope to dilute the negative feedback.

Also, be aware roku users. Roku does not allow disabling of auto app updates so once you get this your done. Its preview for now but that won’t last forever.

I really like this screen. I wish it would look like this on the homescreen, too. (Top bar hidden)

I’m REPOSTING what I said. Plex Inc. has now become Apple and while I am TRYING with all that is left of my sanity to understand and explore this new layout UI, I’m sorry Plex team… I understand this allows each individual app to get its very own special care… but this ALSO allows PLEX INC to not take responsibility for the demise of these apps whenever you plan on shutting one of them down. This makes it easier to look at data metrics and if a need for Plex Photos is no longer in need, you can sunset it and the remaining apps continue to function. Your entire business model has now shifted and there just is no guarantee that you will follow through on your end anymore. I do think you have hammered the final nail in the coffin and to think, none of this is on us, but on YOU as a corporation.

Neglecting Music and Photos for TV platforms such as Roku is ridiculous when we all know streaming music and music videos are embedded as part of YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, iHeart Radio, Tidal, and others.

Live TV Guide

The gap to the left of the Live TV guide looks odd, doesn’t feel right there is too much of a gap between the categories and the guide.

For OTA channels it looks even worse as there is nothing more than 2 items. “Favourites” and “Home Server”.

First Impressions

I have already joined many with negative feedback over the android app. My first impressions of the Roku update are also worrying, but I will have a bit more of a play. Irrespective, the damage has been done with the android version and if the Roku experience is going the same way and ultimately feels poor it will be another nail in the coffin so to speak as this is what I use on my main TV.

This is my biggest complaint about the Experience TV layout. Navigation seems designed around touchscreen rather than remotes.

Having the “back button” jump to the navigation menu for Home and my pinned libraries from pretty much anywhere - even the middle of navigating a library of titles - be replaced with all those steps is overly engineered and cumbersome to say the least.

Currently, Plex is very remote friendly for getting to and playing content. Removing that ease of use will be what pushes me to a different platform.

This cumbersome remote navigation was also brought up a lot in the AppleTV and Android TV Preview so to @dokuro point… if it’s not being addressed there it won’t be addressed here either.

Edit: See my comment here … after playing a little bit, it’s not quite as bad as the AppleTV Preview was and not as bad as @mrig ran through it if you’re used to using the “BACK” button instead of the D-Pad to jump to navigation row. Not my favorite but better than initial reports.
