OR even better comparison Microsoft Bob
I have “Discover” disabled and the “Discover” tab is still showing at the top of the screen…
We now have a Useless interface… Why? Why take something that was useful and functional to navigate to something that’s not user friendly, takes more clicks and is just all around confusing…
I just don’t get the logic behind this… No sir, I don’t like it…
I would like the working version back, not this steaming pile…
Did you try rebooting the device or signing out and back in?
No “Discover” tab on this Roku user’s TV.
I would encourage all plex pass users to contact the billing department at plexpass@plex.tv to ask about a refund. Maybe that will get their attention.
+1 that the new UI is garbage.
Here’s a little history about a top-notch product that haphazardly changed the UI, and then delivered an utterly tone-deaf response to users’ pleas for changes that actually destroyed the company in a very short time:
VisiCalc was groundbreaking when it launched in 1979, but by the early 1980s, it was struggling to keep up with user expectations and hardware evolution. Here’s what contributed to the backlash:
1. UI Overhaul That Broke Muscle Memory
-
VisiCalc updates introduced changes to the keyboard shortcuts, which many users had memorized through repetition. These shortcuts were essential for productivity, and altering them without offering fallback options or customization was a major misstep.
-
The new interface also changed how users navigated cells and menus, making the experience feel foreign and clunky to longtime users.
2. Formula Syntax Changes
-
One of the most jarring shifts was the change in formula formatting. Users who had built complex sheets suddenly found their formulas incompatible or broken.
-
Instead of offering backward compatibility or migration tools, the company’s response was essentially: “Just learn the new format.” This dismissive attitude alienated loyal users who had invested time mastering the original syntax.
VisiCorp’s failure to listen to its users—especially during a time of rapid change—was a textbook example of how not to handle software evolution. The company’s dismissive stance toward usability and compatibility helped accelerate its downfall. By 1985, VisiCalc was obsolete, and VisiCorp was out of business.
In other words, People (the USERS) hated everything about the new user interface, and left the premier product in its field in absolute droves. You haven’t heard of VisiCalc? Yeah….
Um, Hello Plex, can you hear us now?
It’s broken for a lot of us, they acknowledged it’s a bug at some point in the last 4 days.
You need to restart the Plex app on Roku. Arrow to the Plex app on the Roku and the hit the “*” button. You will be presented with the option to restart the app.
I know there are a lot of things folks don’t like, but I truly believe that 85% of us would be satisfied with the libraries moving back to the side, even if none of the rest of it changes. Removing the pointless Season X from the row of TV Show episodes within a season would get Plex another 5%.
I NEVER comment on forums but I got on here to find people’s recommendations for Plex alternatives because I’m so infuriated with this absolute sell out TRASH update! I’ve been a plex pass user for many years and never thought I’d leave in a million years. I have turned so many people on to plex and now I’m finally ready to jump ship. NO ONE who actually uses it asked for or likes these changes and yet they don’t seem to care what the people who pay for it have to say. Peace out, Plex. It was nice while it lasted!
I believe you are absolutely right. Likely concocted by some marketing stooge who thinks he understands the user base, but failing to comprehend most of us are tech-savvy or closely connected to someone who is. Most of us will pull up stakes and move on to something that meets our needs better without a second thought, and take friends and family along with us.
Please revert this back
Does anyone from Plex monitor here and take this feedback into account? I hope so. I had no issues at all with the way the UI was before. Pin what I wanted, unpin what I didn’t. I just don’t understand why change something that doesn’t need changing. Work on backend features and updates. The UI didn’t need any help. And IF this was to somehow mine data and get us to interact differently so they can get us to click on discover, or rentals… I say SHAME… SHAME… Lifetime Plex Pass here. I will only stick around for so long. I will leave a service if they don’t listen to the people using it. Especially paid users who take to the forums for the first time ever JUST to see I am not alone… ROLL IT BACK!
Can you please do what Jellyfin did when they revamped their Roku App, which was they re-introduced their old Roku app as Jellyfin Legacy allowing us users to continue viewing old streaming servers the way we originally configure them for our parents.
You are not being user friendly with your patrons and I don’t blame them for leaving if you won’t listen and understand their concerns.
I stand corrected.
I went back to my ROKU Home Screen, selected the PLEX app icon, hit the “*” on the controller, then selected “Restart PLEX App”. Now “Discovery” no longer exist at the top tabs (whew).
On your PLEX Server, click on the “wrench” (upper right) then go to “Account” (left side Top), “Online Media Sources” and set “Discover Source” to Disabled, along with “Live TV” and “Movies & Shows”…
Yes, change back to what we liked, PLEASE, Pretty PLEASE
I did that years ago and confirmed it is still done recently. Discovery is still present sadly.
I’m sure i would get used to the newUI but atleast give us option for old UI maybe?
It’s kind of ironic that a few of the developers from Kodi left because of the path it was taking to start PLEX, now it’s happening with PLEX… History repeats itself? SMH
