Yesterday Plex was working fine, got a pop-up to update PMS and I clicked on “install tonight”. Was watching Plex until midnight with no issues then went to sleep. New update must have installed sometime between then and this morning, went to put on a cartoon for my daughter and nothing would play.

Went to check my server (late 2014 Mac Mini on Mojave 10.14.6) and this is what I encountered:

Home screen would only show Recently Added Moves and Shows, but nothing on Continue Watching.

I would go to a Library and would get an error saying: Something went wrong! An unexpected error occured.

Still able to see my files in Library and Collections, but get this error when trying to play said files:

Playback Error: An error occured trying to laod items to play!

Using Plex on a phone outside my network I get the same issues with the Continue Watching on the Home Screen. When I go to Recommended section of a Library I am prompted to add content to the Library as it is currently Empty, but see my content on the Library and Collections section. The plus side is I AM able to play my content this way.

Now using my TV on the SAME network as my PMS I get the same issue with the Server PC.

I tried quitting and restarting PMS, restarting the mac mini, reverted back to previous version and everything is the same. Wondering if anyone can help my situation before I completely uninstall Plex and start from scratch (which I do not want to do). Thanks in advanced.

I’m getting the intro screen since this update. Updated further to 10.13 High Sierra or later (64-bit only), 1.43.4.2971-aa2133cc. Same issue.

Restarted the Mac. Same problem occurs.

Google “Fix Plex Database” that ended up working for me. Might need to revert to a backup of the database as Plex saves a few of them.

Plex works in latest Chrome on Mac. It’s seeming like it’s the version of Safari on that old Mac Pro that is having issues (Safari Version 11.1.2 (11605.3.8.1)). That old Mac Pro can’t be system-updated. Too fast to toss.
