I currently have version 1.29.2.6314 Update to .6316 will not install
Also does this have anything to do with the new “discover actors thing” I was just e-mailed about. I can’t seem to find it anywhere
Are you running Plex as a Windows system service (it is not the default)? If so, you need to update the service wrapper first.
If you have never heard of “Plex as a service”, move on.
Try a manual update:
- Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
- deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows
(do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.
do not use “Registry Cleaner/optimizer” software like CCleaner et al) - for safety, reboot Windows
- download the installation exe of the newer version and install it (picking the 64 bit version is recommended)
No it doesn’t.
WOW, that sure seems like a lot to go thru just for the only up-date I’ve ever had a problem with. That could take hours and hours to get everything back to where I like it. I guess I’ll just live with it till another up-date comes along. Thanks.
No, this will take only a few minutes.
Uninstalling Plex does not delete the Plex library, nor your settings. (IF you heed the warning above)
Yes, I found it finally. I went to plex.tv/en-gb/media-server-downloads Found the 64 bit download ,(for some reason I had 32 bit, I downloaded the Plex app, ran it, and like you said, It only took a few minutes. I guess it uninstalled and did an overwrite with the up-dated version. Plex came right back up, just as it was before ane now says “up to date” Thanks for all the help, case closed, but someone else may be able to use this info…
