So after a few update to the server i am now not getting anything on my LG tv was there a setting change somewhere? i would normally go to INPUT on my tv PLEX would be there go into it and see all my folders now its telling me no files found
Anyone know whats going on?
ive same prob.cant watch out on tv
Last Plexpass update added a new security enhancement that forces all signed in servers (to Plex, under server settings) to request authentication from clients (so as the user had the right to access the server). If you use a client that doesn’t have the capability to authenticate a user (like dlna, or older lg clients) it won’t work. Signing out (the server, from settings) or to downgrade the server is currently the only options. In another thread a Plex dev mentioned that they are, based on feedback such as this, looking into the options of how to make it work again for those not able to upgrade to clients that can sign in. No details given when or how this will function so keep a watch out in the release thread for more details when it comes.
Yes i would be using dlna on the TV so now all dlna will not work?
DLNA should not be affected
Assign a DHCP Reserved IP Address for your LG TV
Check that this IP remains in use after power off/power on
Then on the server settings / select Settings / Server / Network / Show Advanced
In the List of IP Addresses and Networks not requiring Auth field, enter the IP Address of the LG TV
Save the changes and restart the server
You need Plex Media Server version 1.1.2
Yah same here… my 55 inch LG Smart TV just stopped seeing Plex entirely.

For the LG TV (LG Medialink or Playz), following the steps below should resolve, If not please provide diagnostics
Check that you are on version 1.1.3.2700 of Plex Media Server.
Ensure the IP Address of the LG TV is fixed and do that through having a DHCP Reservation in the router or a static IP Address but would be outside the DHCP Range - but within the local subnet
Test that this IP gets allocated every time by restarting the TV and see that the same IP remains assigned
Restart the Plex Media Server.
Enter the LG TV IP Address on the Server / Setting / Network / Show Advanced screen in the field
List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth
eg 192.168.0.200
if that is the IP of the LG TV
Save the changes
Restart the Plex Media Server
Try to use Medialink and PlayZ in separate tests and when it fails to find the server, note down the time, the IP Address of the LG TV and get a screenshot of the Network Settings page and locate the Plex Media Server.log
and attach here as file attachment together with the noted info and screenshot
See this support page for log file location
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files
Debug Logging should be enabled by default so no need to set it in advance unless you had it unset
See Note on the Release Notice for 1.1.3
IMPORTANT: With the security changes in version 1.1.0, if your Plex Media Server is signed in to a plex.tv account, then all of the apps you use must also be signed-in. If you use older apps that cannot authenticate (e.g. LG’s MediaLink app), you can add the IP address of the device to the following advanced preference: Settings > Server > Network > List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth. (We strongly encourage apps to be signed in for improved security and enhanced functionality.)
Wow, thank you so much sa2000. I was going nuts trying to figure this out.

Because we still have some users with issues - when you get this to work - please tell me
- Is it
LG Medialink
orLG Smartshare
that you got to work - Did you get it to work with just whitelisting the LG TV IP Address (as opposed to the whole subnet)
- what LG TV model and what year is that model

Thanks, I got this working:
I use LG SmartShare
I just whitelisted the IP address of the TV. Just the IP address (10.1.1.50)
LG60LA7400-UA
Please let me know if you need anything else that may help.
That is fine - thank you.
That is Inline with my testing
I think there is an issue with Medialink which I am trying to get to the root cause - smartshare works ok with the IP whitelisted
Updating this thread with the latest info
The issue with the LG TV Medialink software has now been identified and a workaround is outlined below. The more recent LG TV Smartshare does not have the problem
For LG Medialink, you need to have two IP Addresses specified in the List of IP Addresses and Networks Not Requiring Auth
field, the IP Address of the LG TV and the IP Address of the Plex Media Server.
Note: comma separated IP Addresses and no space characters to be entered
If the server has more than one network interface active (not really recommended), then all the IP Addresses need to be entered.
A fix is being worked on and will be released in a future version of Plex Media Server. Meanwhile this is the recommended solution
For LG Smartshare - it is sufficient to just have the LG TV IP in the
List of IP Addresses and Networks Not Requiring Auth
Note that these IP Addresses need to be DHCP Reserved or Static outside DHCP Range
