I have spent over 2 day on this with no solutions. I recently changed from Xfinity to Verizon. Since the switch, I can not get Remote Access to work. My Plex Media Server is on a Mini-PC using Windows 11. My router is the Verizon CR1000B. I have flowed all the guides and fixes listed in these forms and on Reddit with no luck. Has anyone else been able to get remote access working with a PC for the Server host and Verizon FIOS?

Verizon may still have their internet security called “home network protection” or similar enabled that prevents Plex from connecting. I think someone told verizon Plex is for pirates so they put some URLs on block lists considering us a “unsafe”

but that was a while ago they may have changed the name.

When i had Verizon, their router has a built in firewall. I had to open the same ports.

I have verizon fios and all I did was forward ports and has worked flawless for over 2 years

VZ employee here. VZ only blocks what they are instructed to by LEOs.

If the someone I mentioned was LEOs then OK.

So I went out of town for 5 days. Did not touch any settings what so ever before I left. Before I left it still said, in RED “Not available outside your network”. Reguardless, it was still reachable and people were listed as accessing at rates higher then 2 Mbps and the connection was listed as Direct, or Remote, but not via Relay. So they were not accessing via the Relay feature. When I came back Monday, the Remote Access page indicates in GREEN, “Fully accessible outside your network” and has stayed that way ever since. I don’t understand unless the PMS was actually fully accessible previously, even though it was saying on the Remote Access page that is wasn’t. This was some very unneeded stress trying to get this figured out. Is it a known issue where the Remote Access page indicates Not available outside your network when it actually is and just displays the wrong status for some reason?

Well it’s working now and displays that is it too, so I am happy about that.

Just had to reset the Verizon FIOS router to factory settings. Here is how to regain remote access for Plex via Port Forwarding using a Verizon FIOS Gateway:

Login to your Verizon Router Gateway.

  1. Click on Advanced at the top left.
  2. Select Security & Firewall
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Port Forwarding
  4. In the page that populates on the right, under Create Rule
  5. In the box “Application” type anything you want to name the new port forwarding rule (ex. Plex)
  6. In the box “Original Port” type “32400”
  7. In the box “Protocol” select “Both”
  8. In the box “Fwd to Addr” select from the dropdown list the IP address of the device that is hosting your Plex Media Server (ex. Beelink Mini PC on IP 192.168.1.156)
  9. In the box “Fwd to Port”, type “32400”
  10. In the box “Schedule” select “Always”
  11. Click the button “Add to list”
  12. Then select “Apply Changes” at the top of the page.
  13. Next, on the menu on the left had side, still under Security & Firewall, Click on General
  14. Change the IPv4 Settings to Low Security and click Apply Changes.

Make sure on the Plex Remote Access page in a web browser with Plex open and that you’re logged into, you have Remote Access Allowed and selected and you have clicked on the box, “Manually specify public port” and make sure 32400 is typed in the box next to that selection and click on Apply. You may have to do this first, before you set up the new Port Forwarding rules on your Verizon Router.
