New Verizon Router Messed Up Remote Access

Yesterday we got new wi-fi from Verizon because we got a faster service upgrade. Currently we have the two routers (which are the G3100 models) and the new one is giving me difficulty connecting to remote access. When I switch to the old router everything works fine again, but when I connect to the new one it gives me the normal “Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network” error. I have already turned off the DNS rebinding but it still won’t work. I don’t remember having this difficulty with the previous router. Any suggestions? I want to try to do the port forward but I honestly have no clue how to set that up. I am running windows 10 if that helps.

Let’s go there step by step. Start by verifying that the machine running your Plex Media Server has a static IP address in your home network (look e.g. for “IP reservation” in your router configuration). Then (re-) establish a manual port forward on your router and test if you can see that public port from outside your home network (e.g. using canyouseeme.org).

If I may, my Verizon router has an option to “auto remove mapped ports” that aren’t being used. If you’re using upnp to set up your remote access, make sure that option is disabled.

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to sound like an idiot, but how do you set up a static IP address exactly? I have tried in the past but I can never get the canyouseeme.org to work correctly with my port forwarding.

Where would that option be at? Is it available through myfiosgateway.com? I’m sorry if this is supposed to be obvious.

Okay, so I am pretty sure I finally figured out how to set my static IP through this new router. I am not using a port forward for the moment because just having this static IP seems to do the trick. I can see the port plex has chosen for me is open on canyouseeme.org. The remote access says it is connected and fully accessible and I can use it on my Roku and my girlfriends Roku TV, however my normal LG SmartTV which has the Plex app installed still says my media is unavailable. Any idea’s why this would be happening to only this one?
