So the Plex app (through the Yahoo app store pre-loaded on the TV) upgraded sometime between Friday and today to the version above from 2.3.10. Since the upgrade the app can't find my one and only server on the same physical subnet. Both of my Roku boxes find it with no issue, I can use the Android app on my tablet outside of the house, and the server is found. I am successfully logged in on the server and literally everything works as it should everywhere else except on the TV.
I tried removing the app and then adding it back, but I guess the TV holds on to the settings. When I get this error, my two choices are "Go home" (which tries to find the server again and fails) or "Sign out". When I choose sign out, I get the 4 letter code on my screen - I go to the site, enter the code, and it tells the TV everything is good, so the TV tries to find the server and it fails.
This is extremely frustrating. I had some people over earlier tonight, and ended up getting the Roku from my bedroom.
Ahhh. I just upgraded my whole house to Vizio P series and ditched DirecTV. turns out I cant use all my shiny new tvs for PLEX. wish I would have know that before buying a subscription. my TVs kept saying i needed plexpass to use the app. got plex pass and now I have the useless app.
you that 2 tv's was bad. I now have 7 that cant see plex. android tablet on same wifi work beautifully.
I just had a problem with 0.9.11.14.947-b382187 not loading TV categories properly so I downgraded to the public build 0.9.11.7.803-87d0708 and everything works fine again. Really just need 0.9.13 for Ubuntu 64bit but unfortunately I didn't archive it. But anyway moral of the story, PlexPass subscription doesnt require you to use the PlexPass release to have PlexPass features. Also keep in mind the Vizio app is a very recent addition and far less mature than the other platforms. I also rely on 2 Vizio M-Series to deliver our content but I've used Plex since it's initial release on a Core Duo Mac Mini.
uninstalled, reinstalled, upgraded, downgraded. no luck on windows. broke down and setup a Ubuntu server and attached a persistent SMB share from my media server and all is well in the Vizio world. my TV's load the app and shows all the content on my Ubuntu Server and that my windows server is "offline"
guess I run a virtual machine till they fix the Windows server for Vizio TV's
I really hope this gets fixed pronto. I paid for the Plex Pass just so I could get this Vizio E Series TV up and running. Android and Chromecast apps are working fine, so I'm disappointed to see this app fail so spectacularly. The lack of Plex feedback is disappointing too.
