New Web Interface

I have server version 1.4.2.34 and web version 2.13 running on windows and I don’t think I have the view below “All discussed”. Do I need another upgrade?

The blur is only there if I go through Plex.tv, if I go right to my media center it is fine. Weird how straight from the server it is different.

NOTE: The new interface is initially available only on the hosted Plex Web App (https://plex.tv/web). It will be included in the web app bundled with Plex Media Server in server releases in the future.

I think this answers my question sorry.

Ugh, I’m REALLY not a fan of the new interface at all for a couple of reasons. (Sidenote: I use Plex entirely for TV/Movies)

  1. Call me crazy, yes, but I customized the thumbnails and backgrounds for not only the title page of my favorite shows, but also individual episodes and now that’s all gone.
  2. The Cast section. Not always accurate. In movies and shows that are dubbed, it often gives the cast for the non-dubbed version and not something I really care to have taking up space anyway. (Not to mention, the vast majority of the cast icons aren’t in the database, so I’m just seeing empty circles anyway.)
  3. The “Related” and “More with/from XYZ” It just seems to clutter up the page more and, even with my library being relatively large, seems unnecessary.

Please, please tell me there is a way to revert back to the old version. :frowning:

Maybe you have a (system) backup of the Plex database you can revert to? I think Plex keeps a few version states automatically.

Agreed

  1. You’re not crazy.
  2. Seriously, why bother having a section for the cast if there isn’t even a full database of images for all of them. Empty circles with initials are aesthetically inferior and distracting.
  3. I don’t mind some suggestions for similar movies/shows, but why the redundancy with more ways to delve deeper into the cast. If you have the cast section as mentioned above, why the “More with/from XYZ”. I can just click the cast “image” if I was interested in that.

Please, this must be changed back. Along with the background artwork that is no longer used as background artwork but a page header instead, and the removal of taglines for movies, this service is taking steps backwards.

For Home Movies, it looks like the ‘View by Folder’ option went away or I can’t figure out how to make it work.

“View by Folder” went away and now we have “Browse by Folder”.

I think “View” is the better name as it’s more consistent with the others. Grid View, List View, Summary View!

Just had to throw that out there but I realize the original question pertained to finding the option regardless of what it’s called.

I did this using PMP 1.2.2 as a client playing a playlist. I started a playlist, then in Plex Web I stopped the track. On PMP I saw this for about 2 seconds:
PMP then proceeded to play the next track. I can repeat the process and it just keeps going to the next track.

Confirmed on PMP. (only in fullscreen/tv mode though)
The windows app store app behaves though, as does Plex Web itself.

@OttoKerner Did you report this, or do I need to post it in the PMP forum?

Report what?

Any ETA on making the cast section be pictures and not…gigantic circles with letters inside?

Also, any way we can omit all the console.log calls? Some of us live life with the dev tools open more often than not…

This works.
You need to set the cast list source to TheMovieDatabase.
And not have the metadata from your mp4 files override them (‘Local Media Assets’ must go down).

Also, any way we can omit all the console.log calls? Some of us live life with the dev tools open more often than not…

I have no idea what that means.

Sorry, I thought the “show previous quotes” would have the whole history, but it doesn’t.

I’m referring to this back on page 4: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1379704/#Comment_1379704

On PMP, if the Admin stops remote playback of a playlist, it may just go to next playlist item.

I consider this largely irrelevant, because you won’t be able to resume playback anyway.
In most “real world” cases, that is, when the server admin terminated playback for a reason (doing an update or turning off the server) and not just to rile you up.

Thanks on the agent re-arrangement tip. It’s working now. To cut down on confusion, could there perhaps be a “factory defaults” type reset for agent settings that nukes whatever you have (in my case likely very old stuff from pre-plex movie scanner that never got changed) and puts it back to plex’s ideal settings if you have any issues?

As for the console.log calls…in Plex Web, open the browser’s dev tools’ console (typically F12 or ctrl+shift+i)…all of that stuff it’s writing out eats up CPU (especially if you actually have your console open). I get having it there as a debug level, but there ought to be a setting to disable it/turn it off (I currently have debug disabled in my plex web settings…ideally this type output would only appear when debug was on?)

If the Admin terminates playback in order to turn the server off, and he immediately sees a new track start playing, I would think it would rile him up.

But I take it that you didn’t report it, which is what I asked.

EDIT: It looks like they fixed this in the new version of PMP that I installed yesterday anyway. It now stops the playlist in all cases.

I hope the Plex team integrates all the other parts of the website, like “Account”, “Subscriptions”, “Payments”, “Cloud Sync” and “Global App Settings” etc. from the Settings (see screenshot below) into the new Web Interface as well, and gives it a nice all-encompassing finish with tight security and a shared sign-in/sign-out process, instead of several where you’re not sure if you’ve logged out of all parts of Plex or just one, and are still logged in on another. Automatic log-out after some inactive idle time should also be implemented.

And please redesign the Plex forums and give it a dark theme again, either like the old classic forums or like the new Plex Web interface! The white is so blinding… :o

lookin’ good Plex… keep up the great work!
