New Web Interface

I don’t doubt you or anyone else OttoKerner. I just don’t see it myself. Could be a monitor/driver combination. I’ve also only been using this new interface on one computer which only has a 1080 display (older notebook). I haven’t given it a fare shake on different monitors/GPU combinations yet.

Yep, saw the thread with the CSS mods and that will work to change it as long as Plex doesn’t overwrite local storage (guessing).

I hate to impose but I’d really like to see what you guys find offensive. This is personal of course and nothing more but if any of you could “appease” me and post an offensive pic of this “blurred image” I’d appreciate it. I’d really just like to see what it is that is bothering many people. The only pic I’ve saw so far in this thread wasn’t bad at all IMHO.

PS I’ll promise to refrain from comment on how offensive or not I find it. I really just want to see what you guys are seeing. Maybe it’s just a GPU setting on the local side or maybe it’s just an offensive graphic.

Either way it’s part of the growing pains of a new interface and obviously Plex is listening and paying attention to this thread so let’s try and make it good/useful for everyone. From a purely programming/graphic standpoint this is a simple matter so if it bothers some people let’s bring it to the surface and get it changed if needed.

Now on a desperate note. Besides this graphic anomaly how do you guys find the rest of the new interface? Any glitches/bugs or is it working well for you?

I don’t find it “offensive,” I just prefer to have no backdrop at all. My personal frustration with this is that I (and others) have been asking for the ability to have no backdrops at all, but what we get is more backdrops, in places where they weren’t before, and no way to turn them off.

I’m very happy with most of the changes in this release. I have reported a couple of bugs and a few improvements for things that don’t make sense, but overall it’s a big improvement.

PS for those of you expressing this as a “blur” are you looking at this on a computer or some type of device via web access? I don’t see any “blurring” at all, but a change in color or gradient shift in colors. Am I missing something and not talking about the same thing as your guys? If so I apologize.

You can even override the blur with a user style because it is made with CSS

Thank you very much. I simply set up a “style” with that first one mentioned and I see everything without the distraction of the awful gray blur. I REALLY do not like distractions.

Being able to make that little change has moved my dislike level from “detest” to just “mildly dislike.” It still seems like change for change’s sake but it is more pleasant for me to use this way.

I do wish there could be real background art displayed without any blur and with little or no dim at all points where the blurred image was shown but I guess I can’t have everything. (I cannot even make the examples shown of more background work)

Sadly, I seem to be one of the few having issues with notifications not working, which is putting a downer on the new interface, but it seems like the affected group is quite small.

I would love to be able to edit multiple files again, before this update i could update multiple videos etc, for genre or studio name, is it still there hidden? or how can i do that now?

Hold the Ctrl key down and click on the items you want to edit. Or use the Shift key, click the first and last items you want to edit, and everything between them will be selected.

Also, when you hover over a movie, artist, or album tile, a circle appears in the upper left corner of the tile. Click on that.

Hover over the coverart of a Movie or TV Show and then when the little circle in the upper left of the image appears, click on it.
From there select as many more as you like

Found a bug in the new interface. If you are using this new web interface with the BETA Hardware transcoding version it does not show HW encoding or decoding properly on the NOW PLAYING screen. It just shows as a normal transcode.

It seems that if you have a pin set on your account it stops the notifications working. At least it does for me, if I remove the pin and refresh the browser the notification functionality returns. The Devs know about this, so hopefully it will get fixed soon.

How Can i download the newest Update? is this not the newest UI?

Login via Plex.tv and you will get the new interface.

Skimmed this whole thread (and searched for “Show Artwork”) and did not see this, my apologies if it has been brought up.
In the new Web App, if I “Show Artwork” for movies, I also have to show artwork for TV Shows?
I want to show artwork for movies but not TV Shows.
No way to do that?
(And many thanks for the link to the post for setting up Stylish.)

Can anyone find a way to multi select moods? I like to build playlists with moods so I can listen to them on my Sonos but I can’t seem to find a way to multi select them in the new interface. When I click a mood it takes me to the mood right away, no ability to select another mood.

I should add this is all for music.

Ugh, I’m REALLY not a fan of the new interface at all for a couple of reasons. (Sidenote: I use Plex entirely for TV/Movies)

  1. Call me crazy, yes, but I customized the thumbnails and backgrounds for not only the title page of my favorite shows, but also individual episodes and now that’s all gone.
  2. The Cast section. Not always accurate. In movies and shows that are dubbed, it often gives the cast for the non-dubbed version and not something I really care to have taking up space anyway. (Not to mention, the vast majority of the cast icons aren’t in the database, so I’m just seeing empty circles anyway.)
  3. The “Related” and “More with/from XYZ” It just seems to clutter up the page more and, even with my library being relatively large, seems unnecessary.

Please, please tell me there is a way to revert back to the old version. :frowning:

Ok, why do it like this?..

I’d like to see taglines displayed again.

Also the old way of displaying backgrounds for movies was much better.

Cheers

Wow, the new interface is really horrible towards the backgrounds. It seems to cut the top the image just to keep the aspect ratio.
On my 1920x1200 screen I can see the nose of The Arrow in the new format.

In the old format I see as much as the forehead.

Did the remove the ability to filter a library now by the folder that the videos are contained in? I was using this all the time. I am training for a certification, and downloaded my video course. I separated out all of videos by the section in the course they were by creating a folder. Now i just have a jumbled mess of videos with no way to tell the order to watch them in. I used the folder sort for other things as well so this really hurts the functionality of the new web UI for me. Am i just missing where it is?

Never mind. I just found it. They moved it out of the filter section, and put it into the view area where you can select grid view or list view.

Simply put, the new code that does all of this is the web interface. At this moment, this is available on the Plex.tv interface. When the next Plex Media Server update is released, this web interface code will be incorporated.
