Vote to roll back to Plex Classic!

As it says in the title, this is a vote to let Plex know you want to go back to Plex classic or have an option to use Plex classic and not the new interface!

Yes, I want classic Plex back.

I’ll keep taking time out of my day to try to Advocate to get us rolled back, until we get a response from Plex. Plex Roku Developers are usually top notch for the app. So I don’t think it was their decision! I have so many Roku TVs that are unusable now.

PLEASE restore the actual functional interface that worked.

I can’t believe this post has not been seen by very many, but I’ll throw my vote here. :slightly_smiling_face: The ā€œNewā€ Plex is absolutely horrid, slow and useless now. I really hate the extra clicks to get to where you want to go and bad organization of the app now, but try teaching an 94 year old mother this new stupid UI.

No, this is no good. My main beefs with it are the prioritisation of their stuff over my stuff, and the apparent removal of the facility to retry a connection to a server (mine often falls back to a Relayed Connection, but a quick tap of the Retry button on the old UI usually got it back to direct. Now I can’t do that, and there’s no way of telling that the connection is relayed until you notice that the video quality is a bit pants.

YES!!! 10 count ā€˜em 10, that is correct TEN crashes of the roku app in under an hour tonight! Thats TEN trips through the awful UI, thats TEN times restarting the same playlist after i find it, TEN times unplugging and plugging the roku back in.

What an INCREDIBLE experience!

ā€œprioritisation of their stuff over my stuffā€

This could not be said better and is a perfect summary.

I’ve already switched to Jellyfin (and liked Emby as well but trying out the free option first) and so far happy enough. May even start contributing to the Jellyfin project myself to help improve it, because that is a better use of my time than wasting it on Plex.

So we’re sitting at almost a 25% vote rate verse views. This is accounting for multiple views and only being allowed to vote once. Plex won’t entertain anything if we don’t get above 100. They get more interested when we get around 500! If you’re looking, vote!

You can do all of that in the new app.

Bring back the old app entirely. Or leave the new app but gives us the old as a rebranded ā€œPlex Classicā€ app instead. This way everyone will be happy. Those of us that want the old app back get it back. And Plex is happy with their new unpopular app still available. That would make perfect sense. The problem is Plex doesn’t seem to have any sense, just an ego to force their new terrible app on anyone with the attitude: ā€œTake it or leave it!ā€

And how happy is everyone going to be when no further updates or fixes are made to the classic app? Or when something that changes in the server that breaks compatibility?

It’s not as simple as just making the old app available so people can use it if they want. Users may say now that they’re happy to have it as is without any future support or fixes, but I guarantee as soon as there’s an issue there’ll be demands for it to be fixed.

No one is complaining about Plex deciding to rewrite the back end, the complaints are with the poor choices for the new UX. The community does not want these updates, they want the working interface back. If Plex wants to copy other streaming vendors and add rounded corners or something that’s fine; breaking the usability by forcing the user to take more actions to reach the same media is a bad design choice and a terrible experience for the user.

Almost nobody is happy right now so it’s worth giving us the old app back for as long as it lasts. In the meantime Plex can do some soul searching and redesign the new app so it returns the ease and functionality that the old app had.

Absolutely! Please for the love of all that is entertaining, let us roll back. This new interface is not intuitive, user friendly, or efficient. I’m struggling to find any level of consistent logic in it’s creation. Please, listen to your customers like you have so many times in the past. I’m not sure who had the bright idea for this design, but someone should have a long talk with them about it.

Long talk with that person? The only thing that needs to be said to the people responsible for this is two words…

ā€YOU’RE FIRED!ā€

I signed up here to try to figure out why I can’t find my playlists, or why on one Roku I can’t find any of my media. It’s apparently by design, literally the worst design ever perpetrated. I’m researching emails of execs and intend to write them some pointed letters. I have used Plex and Plexamp for many, many, many happy hours and they’ve rendered it unusable. I imagine there’s a good argument that this rendering of our libraries unfindable/unusable negates any value in the alleged "lifetimeā€ pass I paid for, and they should probably refund the fees. Maybe to a class of aggrieved users.

Sorry everyone else is so frustrated with this, as stated in many threads here it’s amazing to see such a horrible ā€œimprovementā€ in a product that didn’t need one. Here’s hoping!
