There’s a lot of negativity here about the new Xbox One app, but I for one see it as a definite step in the right direction.
I’ve only had a brief play with it but once if figured out how to get the proper dashboard up to see my “On Deck” I think it looks way better than the old app.
Most importantly it has the one feature that I have really been wanting, subtitles without transcoding the video stream.
However, upon testing I have found that when I use the up arrow to skip to the next chapter that the subtitles stop displaying.
If you go onto the settings they are still selected, but no longer appear on the screen. You can reselect them and they start displaying again, but this is obviously inconvenient.
The stop and pause/play buttons on my remote also don’t seem to always work during playback, but I haven’t had a chance to try to narrow this down so don’t know if it is random or if there is a pattern.
UPDATE:
Interesting… if I change the subtitle size from normal to large they don’t seems to disappear after a chapter skip. Still a bug I think, but this a a feasible workaround in the interim.
Another thing on the wish list would be the ability to adjust the position of subtitles. With the new non-transcoded subtitles on a 2.35:1 aspect ratio it displays them within the black bar at the bottom. Some people may prefer this as it doesn’t cover any of the image, but I find it makes me move my eyes up and down a lot in order to be able to view the image and read the subtitles. I prefer the subtitles higher on the screen within the image.
An option to set a default subtitle position would be an ideal solution.
I have a similar issue with the new app: when playing a movie, subtitles suddenly stop showing. They come back after pause --> change sub language --> play --> turn to my sub language. This is very annoying. I still haven’t tried changing the subtitle size.
I hadn’t realised they stopped displaying randomly, I thought it was only after a chapter skip. Maybe changing the subtitle size doesn’t fix the issue like I thought it did, I only tested chapter skipping but haven’t watched anything with subtitles for more than a few minutes.
Does changing the setting to always “burn in” the subtitles prevent the issue? Obviously this is not a great solution as it means transcoding the video stream like the old app, but may be alright as a temporary fix.
I see there are some other threads about this same issue and that the Plex developers are aware of the problem, so hopefully it will get resolved quickly.

That is correct it is a known issue and the developers are actively trying to trace where the break in the sub stream is coming from.
