Newest PMP beta -- Native OpenGL requirements?

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2468
Player Version#: 3.0.0.32
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64

The settings in the newest player seem kinda different than the last one, I don’t see a setting for the vague “hardware acceleration” but there’s the one for decoding acceleration and one for “Native OpenGL”. Can someone tell me what the differences are and what the system requirements are here for OpenGL? I can’t really use the latest beta when I have that setting enabled. If I start a video while in full screen mode I don’t get the video playback, just audio, and if I’m in windowed mode sometimes I can get it working, but many times I end up with parts of the Plex interface (or corrupted versions of them) remaining on screen overlaying the video and unable to be removed. I didn’t have these issues with the last beta and am wondering if this is because PMP has changed compatibility in a way where I’ve fallen out of support.
