I didn’t get an email letting me know further messages had been left. Was about to ask if 1.15.3.835-5d4a5c895 fixes the issue, the April Fools tool had me wondering if a new beta had been released. Seems from further comms the problem remains!
I was hoping that the April 5th release (1.15.3.876) would fix this issue, but it did not. This is really annoying and I hope they fix it soon. I am not even adding any movies to the server right now because I’ll probably have to remove them and re-add them if and when they finally get this fixed.
This will be fixed in 1.5.4 (currently in alpha testing). In the mean time, with versions that are currently available, if you manually run the Analyze on the item after adding it, it should then pick up the chapters.
Hello, thank you for the update. I tested out the analyze option on version 1.15.3.835. It does add chapters in but the preview picture for each chapter is a Plex symbol instead of the movie frame. Not sure if this is normal or not when using the workaround.
upgraded to 1.15.4.919 and chapters seem to be working properly again
Reporting the same. All good again.
Yes, working here. Thank you!
Updated to v1.15.4.919, and the chapter fix was not automatic (with 2 AM scheduled tasks).
Do I need to PLEX Dance the whole library, or is there a simple method to spawn the chapter creation (and chapter thumbnails)?
FYI: All of my movies have their chapter metadata, but the chapters option is not available for selection/use on the majority of them.
Thanks in advance!
Answered earlier:
Thanks, gbooker02; That did the trick (very quickly), and it seems like we’re back in business.
Does the analyze process not run automatically at a preset interval (with the rest of the scheduled tasks), or is this a part of the metadata that we don’t want to update (after we’ve, painstakingly, selected the data we want to display)?
That. It’s data about the media (codecs, duration, language, etc) that doesn’t change. Chapters were supposed to be imported as part of the initial analysis and this is what was missed but it only affected the initial analysis (running it manually followed a slightly different code path where the chapters were not missed).
I’m having this same issue again. Running 1.15.5.994 and utilizing the “Analyze” work around doesn’t seem to help. Older items still have Chapters in place and they work fine but anything recently added doesn’t get assigned Chapters.
I’m also running 1.15.5.994 and chapters are working on any of my plex clients. Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick, iOS. I’ve tested this on newly added files to my library as well as old files and none of them are showing the chapters.
I’ve tried doing the plex dance listed here and readding the files, and i also tried analyzing one specific movie as well as my entire movie library and i still can’t see any chapters.
Hope this get’s fixed soon
Seeing the same thing. Any chapters generated before PMS 1.15.5.994 show up on clients. Any videos added with PMS 1.15.5.994 don’t have chapters generated.
I have two nvidia SHIELD’s and this problem shows up on one of them. They both were on an old version of PMS. So the one that had the issue, I tried updating it to the new version of PMS and still no dice. I don’t understand when I have both devices set up exactly the same, one or the other always encounter issues. this is so infuriating.
I found that remounting shares under the storage options of the Shield fixed the issue.
Definitely broken again in version 1.15.5.994.
I’ve been trying to make some noise to get it noticed again. Will link my post here as well, to see if that helps…
Agree … this is ridiculous. Chapters not being generated for anything! They have just disappeared again.
The quality checking of releases leaves a lot to be desired for issues that should be easy to check.
Analyze does not correct now and all movies and shows now show nothing for chapters on any clients - Roku, PC, IOS, Apple TV 4K, NVIDIA Shield. That includes new and previous that all had chapters that actually showed in PLEX.
version 1.15.5.994 - Win 10 Pro (1809 with all latest updates), NVIDIA P2000, PC PLEX server dedicated system
@BlackJack007 - I have downgraded to 1.15.5.993 in order to continue pulling in valid chapters and chapter thumbnails.
I am seeing the same thing as well. Chapters from pre 1.15.5 show up as expected. With 1.15.5 chapters don’t show up and the analyze function doesn’t solve the issue.
