At first I thought maybe a bad media file, but now other friends have been saying the same thing just as of recent, across half a dozen different shows and cartoons.
Issue : A show ends, the “next up” countdown stars and whether you click “Play” to skip the 10 second wait or just wait, often when the next episode starts there is no video, just audio. The screen is all black with the sound playing. You have to back out (wait a second or two) and pick the correct episode and then it plays correctly. At least 3 friends have had this happen a bunch lately (Nvidia Shields and Firesticks mostly). Any ideas?
Plex : Version 1.32.1.6983
(Although it did it on earlier versions too) System Specs : Ryzen 9 3900x, 96 gigs DDR4 PC3600, Platinum PS, SSD for OS and Plex Data, Fiber 1000/1000 connection.
I have this same issue when shuffling my personal media. It plays fine for a couple episodes, then it would either stop on a black screen or I would back out of it momentarily then continue playing with audio only. You would have to exit the player and re-enter it again to start playing correctly again. This is occurring (at least for me) on a Android TV box.
Also there may be a minor issue with plex web when shuffling personal media as well. While shuffling, it sometimes stops playing at random.
I’ve started seeing this tonight. I think I perhaps did not see it before because I have not been watching multiple episodes of a show in a row where I let it play all the way to the end.
Credits detection didn’t seem to work on a show I’m just starting tonight, and I’ve been just letting it play through and go to the next episode. I’m not getting the countdown either. The ending credits finish on one episode, there is a short pause, and then I start getting the audio for the next episode and no video.
